I wonder is it a bit of a high risk strategy contacting celebrities now as they might support one of the opposition. The WPI look in a very strong position to get $100,000 but in a very weak position to get the top prize: they would have to get 2,000 *more* than the leader to get the top prize (around 5,000 votes a day). I think celebrities might be more like to support more "cuddly" causes e.g. children, animals, or whatever.

I appreciate your point, but my thoughts were directed more towards the ME/FM Action Network. Fact is, we are losing, and losing by more every day. I don't think there is a lot of risk in the Canadian section of the contest, because unless we do something differently, it's lost anyway. I think it is worth trying about anything at this point. If Nielk is willing to look cuddly and be our poster child, I'd vote for that too!

I heard a radio ad for Muscular Dystropy by Jennifer Lopez. Not sure if she has a connection to the disease or she just thought it would be a good org to support?

Most celebraties have orgs that they support (it does good for their reputations etc)

If people contact them and they find out about the competition.. it is just as likely they may decide to vote or get votes for a like org or the org they already support.

Jace, I think you meant to say 135 votes on Monday, 600 votes on Tuesday (since today is Wed )

But, somehow our numbers aren't meshing together either.

I show It Gets Better at 45 for Mon July 25, and 403 for Tues July 26. So far, they only have 48 today, Wed July 27. So even if we are pulling the figures at different times, these three days added together (which would be too much) still wouldn't equal 600 votes for Tues.

That being said though, It Gets Better did take a jump on Tuesday, so I agree that we should watch them.

I'm currently voting for the National ME/FM Action Network (and now "control" votes of 4 family members) however I still have problems with looking for celebrity endorsement as I don't want to jeopardise the WPI vote - a celebrity could encourage voters to vote for a charity in any region. And while perhaps a celebrity might persuade somebody to vote once for a cause (which might work well in Chase Community Giving), I'm not sure they'll convince that many to vote regularly for the National ME/FM Action Network; (while people might vote a bit more for other charities).

Hi SpecialK, the dates are the day of recording, so yes, the record made on the 27th is for the 24 hour period that ends on 00:01 UT of the 27th. A little misleading, perhaps. Just the way I do it. Works for me. Is accurate, too, as a comparison. Maybe I'll get in sync with you tomorrow, though, because I see that it might create confusion.

What time do you make your snapshot of the data?

So that's 01:00 - 01:30 UTC. Just an hour later than me. Do you have this link? It's a page where you can access Vivint totals hour by hour - it means you can be exact re time of sample, without being tied to doing the sampling at a specific time.

I'm keeping a spreadsheet in order to flag up any more shenanigans. If you'd like access, send me a pm. I'm not keeping a record of the Canada board. Really we are doing different jobs.

I sent an email to Michael J Fox (a Canadian) doing my best to link Parkinson's, FM and ME. (I had support from a few people, particularly Marg) I asked if he would make a statement and request votes for ME/FM Action. I don't know where else we can hunt for new votes. It's a long shot, but worth a try. Fingers crossed

Yes Dolphin - just saw your message - same here. I haven't voted but it says I have. The numbers are low all round too so perhaps it is a general problem.
