@adreno - that's awesome news! :) How much are you taking?
Pretty awesome I know, even though every moment I expect to be bumped back to baseline. I started with two tabs, and had some initial problems (pain, diarrhoea) and had to take a few breaks. After a few weeks the problems went away, and now I've worked up to three tabs daily.

I know exactly what you mean.

Gut pain. Systemically, I felt better from the beginning, and I took this as a sign to persevere.

For what it's worth (not much) all effective gut interventions initially worsened my gut symptoms. It's as if it takes some initial disarray (die-off?) for a new homeostasis to establish itself. It was always the beneficial systemic effects that made me think they were doing something good.

Good to know, because I'm feeling like crap after two doses of d-limonene (next one tonight :confused:) - hope it pays off eventually! People say you can get die-off from that.

.I believe I have seen great improvements with clostridium butyric (CB), though who can tell if it will last. In particular, it has helped greatly with OI, malaise, mood, brain fog and fatigue. I feel overall less sick and more like a normal person. They are without doubt the most effective probiotics I have tried, including PA.

Sorry if I missed you possibly mentioning this before, but which particular product are you using that has the clostridium butyric in it?

Bloating yes, but I wouldn't call it extreme.

Ok cool thanks. Reason I asked, I had an extreme, and scary, severe bloating reaction to Candex quite some time ago, and that was with a reduced dosage of it. The Miyarisan is worth a chance to try, but I'll still proceed with very small amounts at first. It's inexpensive too!

And for what it's worth, I too gave up on reading Grace Liu's blog a little while ago.
The posts were making no real sense to me and it seemed like she was just fear mongering and linking to studies that weren't really backing up her claims.
I certainly don't think that taking PS is going to kill you, though I do think that it probably isn't such a good idea to just stick to PS.

All just my 2 cents, and just how I've been attempting to manage all this!

Totally agree. I think the posts didn't seem to make sense to you because they don't actually make sense (not to make light of people with brain fog, I have been there and am sometimes still there). I think she's more engaged in internet position battling, like a lot of the people in that diet sphere. Inulin and FOS were not a good tangent for me.

It's hard not to be too doctrinaire about things. Many prebiotics have seemed full of promise reading about them, but then made me worse.

I was very sceptical of LDN but it has proven to a be a good tool in the toolkit.

Anyone know if it is possible to have Candida die-off 1 week into a 40 g/day resistant potato starch regimen? I started to have extreme fatigue 1 week in, and I assumed I had a lectin sensitivity, but maybe that was the candida releasing toxins in their death? Maybe I should have powered through instead of stopping?

Thanks for any experiences!

I will tell you guys the two probiotics & digestive enzymes that I currently take. Would it better to try the RS after I have the SIBO test in June or before? Also, what does LPS mean? The rest of my questions to follow... you guys are great, thank you!

You might want to look at what he's saying, and the comments section. If you agree with his view, you might want to wait to try RS after you've had your SIBO test and have come up clear.

Thanks @Sasha, and I don't actually know if I have SIBO. I was tested a year ago (March 2014) by a GI specialist (not at OMI) and was negative. But now with some return of symptoms and these histamine issues, my doctor wants me to get re-tested and I fully agree so will be doing it in June.

These are the probiotics & enzymes that I currently take:

1) Kimiabiotics by Kimialogic (it is a product created by the former GI doctor that I saw)

2) Vegetarian Digestive Enzymes also by Kimialogic

3) Ultra Flora Acute Care by Metagenics

Do these seem like okay products? I suspect the Metagenics is good but am now questioning the other ones. I still plan to go back through the last two pages of this thread and post some questions from me & my husband but don't have time right now.

ETA: My husband is now doing the full dose of RS (potato starch in water- I believe four tablespoons) but I am not doing anything b/c I am so unclear if this will make me better or worse.

I would wait.
Though I had very positive results with RS initially, in the end it was like a double edged sword because it worsened SIBO, which I didn't know I had.
In retrospect I had red flags come up for SIBO...for example only being able to tolerate PS in the beginning after introducing it while fasting on juice and bone broth....and other things too now I understand it better. I also had positive results with AOR probiotic which contains C butyricum but has a few other ingredients probably best avoided for many of us.
(I'm keen to try RS again asap....just need to get on top of the SIBO first I think.)

Yes, by all means ditch any lactobacillus probiotics @Gingergrrl , those are just a nightmare. Pure bifido species are probably fine.

That's interesting. When I trialled AOR Probiotic-3, which contains Clostridium butyricum and only two other bacteria (Streptococcus faecalis & Bacillus mesentericus), a few months ago, I felt like that product might have been the best of quite a few different versions of probiotics I'd tried prior to that, including Prescript-Assist.

I wasn't sure at the time if I felt better on it for what it contained or what it didn't contain. I'll have to retry the C. butyricum by itself (i.e., Miyarisan). I hope it keeps working for you.
