@Wonkmonk, I have to commend you on your home-cooking! I am so impressed and even envious.

You even make your own humus! And bread! Wow, good for you!

@Wonkmonk Interesting, I too cant do too much watery foods and drinks, I read somewhere low thyroid can have this effect.

One of my biggest triggers are Mushrooms (any type), and I get these painful hidradenitis suppurativa bumps, always in the same place in my belly button. I am in the process of lowering my cholesterol and added some Brown button mushrooms to my diet recently - big mistake, never again.

i haven't kept up with this thread but has there been a consensus about what brought the improvement? (asking because i noticed the same is true for myself)

It's hard to get a consensus for pretty much any treatment for ME, since we all vary so much. One person might get a benefit from a specific dietary change, while another person gets worse on it. There could be two people who get a benefit from a specific diet, but by two totally different mechanisms. That's why it's so hard to get advice on ME treatments: there's no way to know in advance how they would work on a given individual.

It's been pretty much an evolving story. The most recent thing talked about is that eating food dry instead of wet improves digestion.

What foods or drinks have you found to worsen symptoms and have you found anything helpful?

what's the exact reason for the improvement is still escaping me, whether it's saturated fats or carbs/sugar or additives/preservatives idk...
maybe plant oils, usually sunflower and whatever else they put into it. industrialized "food" isnt worth the name. its actually candy with a lot of unhealthy ingredients.
if you try organic cheese, like young gouda or buttercheese, those are mainly saturated fats and a bit of mono unsaturated fats. i can eat those usually without problems. but when i do something PUFA rich like fish oil or omega oils, i get worse effects.

i don't think i'll ever solve this riddle, that's why i asked if there'd been findings here i could cross-reference. it's not even all processed foods as the ramen i use is instant ramen...
