GcMAF for XMRV--Gc protein-derived macrophage activating factor--anyone taking it?

If your getting it in the United States, its traveled a long distance, so asking about shipping conditions is COMPLETELY rational thing to do.

All that being said, I am considering whether I could suffer the trip to KDM or whether I should try out BGI's GcMAF.

Just a comment: I am sitting in the D.C. airport on the way back from my second visit to KDM in Belgium. I am waiting for my flight to Albuquerque, but the 25 vials of GcMAF seem to have cleared customs in my suitcase (packed in double coolers with ice bricks and bags of ice cubes)

No one asked me anything in customs. I haven't been able to open my bag and check on it cause they loaded them immediately onto the conveyor belt for the next flight, but I think they will be alright.

The second visit was good. A much fuller protocol prescribed and complex and interesting test results back.

Going to Belgium can be done, but it is definitely hard! I am very tired, but after 13 shots I seem to have enough stamina to handle it. More later.

Oh, met lots of other patients at the clinic and the hotel--some from Phoenix Rising. Quite neat to meet in person.

Has anyone on GcMAF noticed an increase in allergic reactions? I am reacting to Nexavir with signs of inflammation; a hot red raised weal and am having reactions to all plant foods, including chicory, lettuce and camomile.

It may be that GcMAF or Nexavir is causing me to be more allergic.

Hi Girl,

GcMAF can bring a histamine reaction and if severe, KDM suggests a drug, supplement that blocks all 3 histamine receptors--I think it was posted on this thread recently. Many also follow a low histamine diet. I am taking an antihistimine.

What I have heard about Nexavir (I am about to start it) is that it can cause irritation at the injection site and that you should rotate the place of injection. Also the nurse gave us a lesson on how to inject it--straight down with a very short needle into a fold of skin you have pulled up---and very slowly. Then press it gently for a minute.

Maybe this will help.

Good luck.

Thanks for the speedy reply Sushi. I took a daosin on Wednesday but it made me really ill, being sick and feeling toxic. I've been on a low histamine diet since the beginning of April. I think it may well be the GcMAF that is provoking a heightened histamine response.

I've been rotating sites for Nexavir but doing mostly intramuscular injections. To do a subcutaneous injection do you inject straight down into the pinched skin or between the fold? I imagine catching both sides and anyway it seems trickier than straight down into muscle. Up until three days ago I didn't have any negative reactions to Nexavir at the injection sites.

In the meantime I'll discontinue Nexavir over the Easter weekend and give the clinic a call on Tuesday.

Nexavir might cause problems if you are allergic to pork. It is produce from pigs and they say if you are allergic to pork you should not take it.

Hi beike, this is a possibility as I have developed problems with pork in the past after taking Armour thyroid. Thanks for mentioning this.

Hi Girl,

First the subcut injection: the nurse gave us a lesson! Pinch up a fold of skin and using a very short needle (can't remember how many mm but looked like about 1.5 cm) inject straight down into the fold. Push the Nexavir in very slowly. I think it matters that it is subcut rather than IM.

Daosin is the one recommended to block all 3 histamine receptors. Others anti-histamines that have been recommended while on GcMAF are Benadryl, Zantac (not strictly an antihistamine but blocks the H2 receptor), Tagamet (also blocks the H2 receptor), & Allegra.

I am taking chlorphenamine which (according to Wiki) "In addition to being an histamine H1 receptor antagonist, chlorphenamine has been shown to work as a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor or SNRI." The SNRI part is good for me because norepinephrine helps my OI. This may not suit everyone.

Hope you get some relief.

So which one is the best i can try?? Daosin??

Thanks so much Sushi, this is so helpful. I will feel more confident when I do this next time! I think it was awkward when I attempted it because the length of the needle and angle was not right.

I need to do some research, there seem to be many different anti-histamines meds, some seem alot more effective in M.E. related histamine related inflammation than others. I'd heard of the old cough/hayfever meds (benedryl, Zantac) and also cimetidine and Xyzal.

Nabo, I tried daosin and thought I had a bad experience with it; being sick and feeling toxic but it may have been something I ate! I haven't heard of other strongly negative or positive reactions so far apart from some autistic kids who seem to be doing well on it.

Histame is the same product as Daosin, just rebranded for the US market. Expensive but you can buy it without a prescription.

IM syringes have no scales for very small doses like 0.25ml, i was thinking to buy insulin syringes nd then change the needle with IM needles but i dont kno wyet if it fits

what syringes do you use for IM?

Hi lobba,

I just had an appointment with KDM a few days ago and asked specifically what was the best way to take my GcMAF. He said subcutaneous injection. They give it IV in his clinic (and I have been taking it IV) but the nurse said that taking it IV only gets it into the system faster (presumably in the clinic they might want to give it IV to see if you have a reaction). She also said that the subcut injection had the same efficacy. But they didn't mention giving it IM.

Since one whole vial of GcMAF is only 1 ml, insulin syringes seem to be best.

Good luck,
Sushi

I have been taking GcMAF by IV since January. However I had to take the last two doses subcut - the first week I was travelling and the second week my shot was due on Friday which was a public holiday here, and so my doc wasn't available. I would definitely say that subcut is pretty effective, ie I had the same reaction as by IV. I use insulin injections, the same type I use for the Nexavir. I may continue to take it subcut as it is so much easier than going to the clinic.

Good luck,
