How to Edit a Post

Editing/Prettying up your post

WYSIWYG versus BB Code Editor

The 'Rich Text Editor' is the default editor. This editor allows you to create posts using What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get or WYSIWYG editing. You can create tables, embed images, bold and italicize, add smilies and more without having to type any special code for the formatting you want. You can also use the 'BB Code Editor'. The BB Code Editor is a simplified editor with fewer formatting options which allows you to use familiar BB Code tags and is optimal when posting on mobile devices.

  • To revert back to WYSIWYG editing, click on 'Use Rich Text Editor' (located in lower left hand corner of editing box)

Format

  • To remove formatting, highlight the text you wish to change
  • Click on the

This will remove any text that has been formatted eg., bolded text, lists, font colour, indents, alignment etc.


Font

To choose a different font style:

  • Highlight the text you wish to change using your mouse
  • Click on the down arrow beside 'Font Family'
  • Click on the font you would prefer to use

To select a different font size:

  • Highlight the text you wish to change using your mouse
  • Click on the down arrow beside 'Font Size'
  • Click on the size you would prefer to use (Size 1 is the smallest, size 7 is the largest)

To select a different font colour:

  • Highlight the text you wish to change with your mouse.
  • Click on the 'A'
  • Click on the colour you wish to use

Smilies

To add a smiley:

  • Place your cursor where you would like to add the smiley
  • Click on the ':) ' icon
  • Click on the smiley you wish to add

Bold, Italic, Underline, and Strike-through

  • Highlight the text you wish to change using your mouse
  • To change your text to bold, click on the 'B' icon
  • To italicize your text, click on the 'I' icon
  • To underline your text, click on the U icon
  • To strike through your text, click on the ABC icon

Text Alignment (left, center, right)

To align your text:

  • The default alignment is 'Align Left' and can be used to return text that is aligned in the center or to the right back to the default position. Hightlight the text you wish to remove, and click the on Align Left' icon
  • To center your text, highlight the text you wish to move, and click on the 'Align Center' icon
  • To place your text in the right portion of the text box, highlight the text you wish to move, and click on 'Align Right' icon

Unordered/Numbered Lists, Outdents/Indents

To make an unordered or bulleted list:

  • Highlight the text you wish to include in the list with your mouse
  • Click on the 'Unordered List' icon

To make a numbered list:

  • Highlight the text you wish to include in the list with your mouse
  • Click on the 'Ordered List' icon

To outdent/indent text:

  • Highlight the text you wish to indent with your mouse
  • Click on the 'Indent' icon
  • To outdent text, highlight any indented text, and click on the 'Outdent' icon

Insert a link to a webpage

  • Copy the URL
  • Type a name for your link and then highlight the name using your mouse
  • Click on the chain icon and a pop-up will appear
  • Paste the URL of the link into the text box
  • Click 'Insert'

To edit your link:

  • Highlight the link you have inserted with your mouse
  • Click on the chain icon, and make any necessary changes
  • Click 'insert'

To unlink:

  • Highlight the link with your mouse
  • Click on the broken chain icon

Insert Media found on the internet

Quote a phrase

To quote a phrase:

  • Highlight the text you wish to quote with your mouse
  • Click on the icon with the quotation marks

Undo/Redo Text

  • Click on the 'Undo' icon (blue arrow facing left) to erase the last change done to the text you are editing.
  • Click on the 'Redo' icon (blue arrow facing right) to reverse the undo
