seriously inspirational, she has a website too. FOUR years not even able to move her own eyes, permanent spinal/brain damage and now she is dancing and walking again. ….wasn't so permanent....as she said, turned out the drs were wrong or knew very little about her situation...sound familiar?!

She had some type of encephalitis as well. seizures for 20 hours a day. 10 years in a wheelchair. the human body is amaaaaaazing.

And 'permanent' spinal damage, imagine how hard she worked to do the yoga poses for Jockey!
The Drs thought all the seizures caused permanent damage.

Did you get that bit that they noticed she was not sleeping and gave her a sleeping medication and it calmed the brain enough for her to stop seizing and control the use of her eyes!

Funny when I have the involuntary muscle spasms it does not scare me anymore. It only happens now if I over do it... I know it freaks other people out by the look in their eyes.

This makes me want to do the pool PT again. I have not been able to do that in three years. I just have to do the surgery consult and the neuro appt. If I can get cleared by them I am inspired to go and do that ASAP!

@sunshine44 Thank you for posting this, and never give up! I am seeing that you are getting better than you were the first day you joined!

never, ever give up.

I saw her when she was on "dancing with the stars". As I remember she was one of the best dancers there.

I was mostly bedridden for several years. I accepted that was my lot in life until I realized that there had to be a way out and to get better.

That started my journey of determination, 12 years ago, that continues today.

The difference is today I do 5-6 hours a day of physical activity, sing karaoke with a machine I have an for an hour at a time 2-3 times a week.

Sleep only about 8 hours a night, instead of 12-14 and rarely need a nap. Go out for a 1/2 mile walk 2-3 times a week, cook 3 meals a day, etc. Best of all I continue to slowly improve.

What an incredible story she has!! Truly, the moral of the story is, as you say, "never, ever give up"!!:)
