U.S. requires same insurance coverage for mental illness as for other illness

Hi, all.

This is in the news today. I think one effect of it may be less pressure on doctors to diagnose depression instead of CFS. This could end up helping PWCs. Time will tell. But it will no doubt also raise the cost of insurance.

Thanks Rich, I think this is good news for many peoiple. I know that my son did not receive many services that he needed because of the restrictions set by the insurance company. For many years our insurance would only cover one therapy session per month and, of course, our co payment was higher.

I wonder if, with this new equality of coverage, there would be less financial incentive for the insurance industry to promote the classification of CFS as a psychiatric disease (as they clearly have up til now).
