Hi. I haven't slept since I started oxymatrine (even with AM dose of the tiniest amount).

No problem falling asleep. I'm having dreams a good portion of each night. It's greatly affecting me, so exhausted. From the little I've researched I guess it's REM sleep I'm having.

The dreams are nice to have cause feel like I'm actually living and experiencing life. Yet I need to sleep deeper.

I've tried a few things (chamomile, antihistamine that cause drowsiness) yet they haven't helped and some had me sleepy most of the day. Read melatonin causes more REM and dreams so that wouldn't be good.

Any suggestions? I don't need help falling asleep, need help staying in a deep sleep through out the night. Cost is a big factor, so I can only try taking one thing. Thank you for any help.

I can't suggest anything much, I just got raw unfiltered honey today after reading a recent thread here. I have been up 16 hours now and am trying to stay up another hour right now to see my daughter off to school tomorrow. It is worse if I fall asleep too early:confused:

I had a horrible nightmare last night. I remember every little tiny bit of it... I was shaking for hours after I woke at 3 am! :nervous::nervous::nervous:

Oh sorry to hear. That's no good. :(

Hope you can sleep better tonight with sweet dreams to wake up to and see your daughter is off to school.

P.S. I hope the raw unfiltered honey helps. :)

Edit: @jesse's mom meant to say also thank you, I'll read up on it and ck it out too. If up for it let me know if it helps you. Hope it does. Thanks.

I've tried many different natural sleep aids (as you can see in the blog linked in my signature).

Milk and turmeric boiled together for a few minutes and consumed before bed. Adding a capsule or two ashwagandha increases the sleep inducing effects.

Dr. Christopher's Relax-eze (extract, in glycerine). Takes awhile to kick in but this keeps me asleep, reduces or even eliminates the 'wired-but-tired' feeling, I actually felt like I've slept, and it's very economical at only 15 drops before bed. A single bottle lasts more than two months (76 days) at the recommended dose. It can also be taken any time you need to relax. I feel a little sleep groggy when I wake up but it quickly passes.

Relax-eze contains: Black Cohosh Root, Cayenne Pepper (40MHU), Hops Flowers, Lobelia Herb, Skullcap Herb, Valerian Root, Wood Betony Herb and Mistletoe Leaves in a base of pure vegetable glycerin.

@PatJ thank you! I'll look into what you wrote and see if it helps.

Due to reactions to most things, I'll check out the only one ingredient one first. :)

Thank you also for including the ingredients contained in Relax-eze.

Oh gosh rereading what you wrote, I want to make sure to look at your sleeping better blog toooo. Thank you for it.

The raw unfiltered honey helped lots for the first three nights, then I overdid going to the Dr and had a small crash. I never sleep well for a few days after I go over my pacing... but I slept well again last night.

The weighted blanket I got helps so much!

Still having the honey right before bed. No nightmares.
The video I posted in the honey for sleep here will tell you all about the way cortisol levels jump when our glucose in the liver drops during sleep. I have a theory that is why the nightmares!

I am having the same! Also suspecting that I'm hving too much REM (at least 3 differenent dreams every night, very vivid), too little deep sleep. Except my problem comes from damage after AD drugs withdrawal (one of many). After 7 h of sleep I am feeling like 5 h in the past (i.e. way too little, unrest). And it's been like that for >1 year (of course not every night, sometimes I manage to sleep 8-9 which is absolute minimum).
Did you find anything that helped?

PS In case you're interested, it seems to be more complicated: "REM can occur without dreaming and dreaming can occur without REM." - from http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/pinealstory.htm

@voyteck sorry you are experiencing this. :(

I wasn't able to try many things due to my limitations and sensitivities. My health took a bad turn and my REM sleep problem stopped then (with exceptions) and stopped cause I titrated off Oxymatrine when my health became worst.

There's lots of threads and posts on the forum that may be helpful. I do recommend to research the supplement or anything before you try it. I hope you find something that helps you.

@Jennifer J , @Rufous McKinney Thank you for your input.
Unfortunately, I am also having huge GI problems (almost constantly) and smell sensitivity, nausea (waves and windows - more of the former) so cannot try bone broth now - like with many cooked things I detest smell of it (with rare, short periods). Right now about 50-80% of calories comes from nutri drinks :(. But maybe I'll try glycine (a bit afraid of it)...
Also very sensitive to many ordinary supplements. Both aforementioned problems (and many others) due to PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome) after ADs. Sometimes I think it's almost too ridiculous - to be so sick and get more sicker thanks to meds... But I know it's just my human perspective and universe really don't care.
I keep trying many things for many problems (one thing at a time, of course), many times getting worse, wait a few days and try again, and again... The battles go on...
PS In the meantime I tried theanine (never felt effects any from it during day, but wanted to test for sleep quality). 400 mg before bedtime: didn't help.

That sounds hard...I experience alot of lurking nausea myself. Hard to eat, food unappetizing. Its likely also gut related.

I have found these chinese pills to be helpful. For just rather quesy stomach....Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Wan (Plum Flower brand)....

Interesting that a research paper on MECFS included: Anorexia as a symptom...from our cluster of Sickness Behavior. Its very hard for me to eat.

I was having smell hallucinations during a more acute window...that has subsided...Yay.
