Finally got my apigenin yesterday. Can I say i think it helped. My plan is to use it as an add on.

Last night I took zopiclone, melatonin and 100mg apigenin. Got about 4hrs sleep so took another 50mg apigenin and slept another 4hrs sleep. The first 4hrs sleep it's hard to tell if it helped but the second 4hrs shows to me it helped.

Tonight I will use it again with dayvigo which should be easier to tell how much it helps. 🤞

An update from me. It turned out that I mostly needed ivabradine to give me better sleep. I found this out totally by chance. I think I'd experimented with 5mg but what I actually needed was 2.5. my Dr has bumped my script to cover this too. So I'm guessing my pots was the main driver. I'm still taking reishi and melatonin with it. Since I started doing this my body battery has been a lot more stable and my morning hrv has improved by about 10 to 15% which is a lot I think.

Let us know how you get on with the dayvigo that stuff is so strong. Glad the apigenin helped some too!

This thread shows how important it is that one is willing and able to be their own advocate and researcher.

I've had the problems caused by ME/CFS so long that I forgot how I used to be envious of the people who can take things like being able to sleep or eat food for granted.

It's sadly true because even good drs miss things. I was speaking to my Dr last week and they forgot that I'd had armin lab tests already. Not sure why there using Armin labs are there known to be a bit sh** in Europe but they are anyway. But goes to show.

Also I didn't know that 2.5 and 5mg sosss of ivabradine could cause wildly different results. I got that info from Reddit.

Today I've found out that for POTS I'm meant to be following something called a st Thomas solution recipe. Which uses equal parts salt and glucose to hugely increase blood volume. Blood volume is what we need/what in POTS. But my Dr recommended salt only which apparently isn't nearly as effective and much more likely to cause lose tools.

So yeah we have to figure it out alone same as heaps reply sometimes.

Really glad to hear this! I'm the opposite - I start with 50 mg. before bed together with 600 mg. niacin (the kind that makes you flush and is great for sleep onset) and some other things (l-theanine etc.) and sleep for around 3.5 hours and then am wide awake, and then take 100 mg. apigenin together with all my other stuff I've written about elsewhere and after an hour or so manage to go back to sleep. I also take Seriphos in the morning to help with high nighttime cortisol.

I didn't sleep that well last night but I think I'm going through a rough patch with sleep where nothing is helping much. Apigenin I think will be a good add on plus use if wake in the middle of the night.

Interesting you mention seriphos as I've just ordered Phosphatidylserine and plan to take 300mg at night. My next order I'm going to get Ashwaghanda to use at night to help with possible high night time cortisol plus has some effect on serotonin. It should compliment Phosphatidylserine 🤞🤞

Apigenin, a natural flavonoid, inhibits glutamate release in the rat hippocampus

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26007643/

The apigenin-mediated inhibition of evoked glutamate release was prevented by chelating the extracellular Ca(2+) ions and blocking Cav2.2 (N-type) and Cav2.1 (P/Q-type) channel activity.

On the basis of these results, we suggested that apigenin exerts its presynaptic inhibition probably by reducing Ca(2+) entry mediated by the Cav2.2 (N-type) and Cav2.1 (P/Q-type) channels, thereby inhibiting glutamate release from the rat hippocampal nerve terminals.

Interesting you mention seriphos as I've just ordered Phosphatidylserine and plan to take 300mg at night.

Phosphatidylserine might help you but it's not the same thing as Seriphos, which is phosphorylated serine. Their names are confusingly similar! Seriphos is supposed to be more effective than phosphatidyl serine in helping to normalize cortisol levels. So if the phosphatidylserine does not do the job, check out Seriphos - also I found out that it's generally best taken in the morning. I used to have a blurb from the manufacturer which explained why, had to do with circadian rhythms I believe but I no longer have it. Though I have read about people having good results taking it at night but when I tried it (Seriphos) at night, it gave me a weird horrible insomnia, but no bad reaction in the morning. I had to experiment and titrate up to find an effective dose.

Phosphatidylserine is a weird one for me it makes me tachy and keeps me awake! So many people recommended it on this forum over the years but no go for me. I do have some odd reactions to things tho. Then again Dr Bansal said that was normal.

Yes seriphos is the one I tried. Recommended by learner1.

Glad it's working for some of you tho!

Phosphatidylserine is a weird one for me it makes me tachy and keeps me awake! So many people recommended it on this forum over the years but no go for me. I do have some odd reactions to things tho. Then again Dr Bansal said that was normal.

This might be why:

Phosphatidylserine restores acetylcholine release in aging humans by maintaining an adequate supply of the molecule and is able to increase the availability of endogenous choline for de novo acetylcholine synthesis

https://go.drugbank.com/drugs/DB00144

So phosphatidylserine increases choline (regardless of one's age) and choline can be stimulating - I found this out the hard way! Taking a choline supplement did help my memory BUT if I took it late in the day, it caused insomnia.

But Seriphos - phosphorylated serine - taken in the morning - helped with sleep at night. I just realized maybe this is why when I took Seriphos at night as originally instructed, it caused insomnia for me - I'd never connected those dots before!

So if you try Seriphos again, try taking it in the morning. It was calming for me, I felt better able to deal with stress, and also was able to go back to sleep more quickly middle of the night.

I think there are some PS supps that have phosphatidylcholine in them, and it makes them stimulating.
