My answer is maybe a bit odd (?) in that I think text sample 1 is easier to read when my brain is working a bit better, because of the clearer spacing between each word. It's easier for my brain to guesstimate what the words are/will be.

I just commented on the first one was easier for me but did not comment on the reason why other then saying it was not due to blurred vision I get but rather due to my ME brain. You just explained well for me the reason why that is so for me, it is cause of it being much easier due to the clearer spaces between the words so easier to comprehend what Im trying to read.
