Long term drugs for chronic pain

LDN worked very well for me: one capsule and the next day my chronic aches were gone. Of course, since this is ME there's no guarantee that it will have the same effect on your pain. My aches were centered in my front thigh muscles, and spread further only on days when my ME was much worse. I'm convinced that my aches were neurological in origin, rather than having a physical cause in my muscles.

I hadn't found anything else that worked on that pain. Wait, I did try acupuncture (mental health clinic suggestion), and the first time blocked the pain as well as LDN did. The second try had no noticeable effect, and I didn't bother trying again, since LDN was effective and cheaper and more convenient.

When *muscle* pain, or myalgia, was one of my worst symptoms, a rheumatologist/functional medicine specialist recommended Magnesium Malate.

It made a HUGE difference for me. I took it for several years, until that muscle pain subsided.

Here's a link to some general information about Magnesium Malate in case you would like to look into it:

Did someone have found a drugs or supplement that work to remove chronic pain in the body
Hi @yohann2008 -- There's a number of things you could take that might reduce inflammation-caused pain, but one of the best I'm aware of for all kinds of pain is MSM, both as a supplement, and as a lotion to apply over affected areas.

Thank you.
Yes, check this out, PEA is very safe and it is effective, https://seidrecovery.com/pea-palmitoiletanolamide-pain-medication-alternative/
Curcumin could be helpful but didn't do much for me and I finally became allergic. Ginger is safe and helpful. And check SodiumBicarbonate - baking soda, it is used by athletics for performance and pain.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6544001/

... for some people. It makes my ME symptoms worse, as does turmeric (related plant).

baking soda, it is used by athletics for performance and pain
There's no reason not to try it, but pain from extreme athletic exertion is not necessarily the same pain that PWME experience. My pain seemed to be neurological, rather than from muscle issues.

One problem is that you don't know whether those parts of your body are sending pain signals or whether some brain cells are malfunctioning in a way that creates the sensation of pain from your body. I think that theoretically there should be a way to measure "pain signals" passing through nerves, but I don't expect that's something your GP can order. I think there are techniques for blocking pain signals in the spine, which could test whether the source is body vs brain, but I don't know what those techniques might be or how hard to get them. If you don't know where the problem lies, I suggest keeping both possibilities in mind when looking for possible treatments.

I used to fairly occasionally get a very unusual deep dull pain running down one one of my arms that would last for several minutes. Eventually, it began to happen on the other arm as well, which I found a bit odd (and concerning). I eventually described what was happening to my chiropractor.

He quickly did some muscle testing (@Mary), and discovered the pain was actually originating in my brain. A bit skeptical, I asked, "you think so?". To which he replied, "I know so". He did a few quick somewhat unorthodox adjustments, and vuella, the pain was gone. It no longer happens as often, and when it does, it's not as intense. If it gets worse again, I'll know where to go.

I get sharp pains on the upper parts of my hip bones. I can block that by either wiggling my lower spine or by pressing on the inside of my thighs. My guess is that like sciatica, it's a malfunction in the nerve channel. Bodies are so complex.

Yes indeed, bodies are complex! I recently started regularly using a small hand held massager which I use over my entire body for about 5-10 minutes at a time, a couple times per week. I was amazed at how much better parts of my body felt the very next day, especially my lower back. Have you ever tried or considered something like that?

I'm also looking for something to help with muscle pain.

I find NSAID helpful but stopped due to the gastro issues it can cause.

I've tried MSM, curcumin (turmeric), ginger, omega, LDN, baking soda, THC, CBD with no improvements.

I would love to find something that works as well as NSAID.

Have you tried all three of the major painkillers: aspirin, acetaminophen and ibuprofen? They have different effects. I read that ibuprofen usually works better for males than females, but I found acetaminophen most effective for me (male). Some drugs might also have different effectiveness and side effects depending on your gut microbiome and your diet. I haven't read anything specific about how different foods affect side-effects of NSAIDs, but that might be something to look into. Maybe some specific food reduces the gastro issues.

I went through a period of heightened pain recently and at the same time my stomach was becoming more acidic which tends to make me vomit.

I don't usually like using them but remembered in the past where PPIs had helped me with the nausea better even than anti-nausea medications so took one (Prevacid) and low and behold my body pain improved significantly too. :)

Anyway, I'm not saying they would work that way for others but I think because they lowered the acidity of my stomach it may have helped lower it in my body as well. ???

Maybe you can try PEA. It is safe, and it can help. LDN I didn't try, because there are anegdotal reports that it worsened menstrual cramp, and it is not an option in my case. Same goes for CBD, because it lowers blood pressure. PEA is very tolerable. You try to ad curcumin and ginger. I haven't noticed any improvement with curcumin personally, but ginger is helping along PEA. Potassium can help as well. https://seidrecovery.com/how-does-p...rgy-and-strenght-in-chronic-fatigue-syndrome/
