LET'S DO IT AGAIN!!!!!

The Chase Community Giving was very successful for P.A.N.D.O.R.A.

Let's do it again through American Express.

This time we want to also help the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease (WPI) and other patient organizations that meet the project requirements.

American Express is offering $200,000 to five different charities every three months. People will be able to vote for their favorite charities once a week. The next three-month round of voting starts on Jan. 1, 2011, but they are accepting nominations now. To be eligible, a non-profit organization must be nominated by many people, meet the American Express requirements and be approved by the TakePart Advisory Board.

The following are the basic requirements and guidelines they consider in choosing a charity to participate in the project:

1. be operationally stable
2. have a presence across the US
3. have a clear and meaningful mission
4. have a broad support base
5. serve diverse audiences
6. be a U.S. based 501c3

As you can see, they have no requirements on the size of a charity's balance sheet - only on the scope of their outreach programs, efficacy, mission goals and accomplishments. We know that many organizations in our overall community fill this requirement.

To nominate P.A.N.D.O.R.A.-Patient Alliance for NeuroEndocrineImmune Disorders Organization for Research & Advocacy, Inc. and Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease (WPI) (and/or any other favorite charity you support), you can follow these step-by-step instructions below.

How to Nominate P.A.N.D.O.R.A.:

1) Go here.

http://www.takepart.com/membersproject/vote/nominate/

Please enter "P.A.N.D.O.R.A.-Patient Alliance for NeuroEndocrineImmune Disorders Organization for Research & Advocacy, Inc." in the "Organization Name" window.

2) Under "Location," choose "National (multi-state)"

3) Enter your e-mail address.

4) Then put in some comments. We encourage you to speak from your heart as to why P.A.N.D.O.R.A. should be nominated. But to be more effective, you should make your comments focused on how P.A.N.D.O.R.A. meets the following approval guidelines:

1. be operationally stable
2. have a presence across the US
3. have a clear and meaningful mission
4. have a broad support base
5. serve diverse audiences
6. be a U.S. based 501c3

For those who would like a specific suggestion, you might enter the following in the "Comments" window:

Patient Alliance for NeuroEndocrineImmune Disorders Organization for Research and Advocacy, Inc. (P.A.N.D.O.R.A.) has been producing results since 2002, when they became a 501(c)3 corporation. They get things done. Thousands of people across the US and the world have donated to and supported their advocacy for improved quality of life for people with Gulf War Illness, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), Fibromyalgia, Environmental Illnesses, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, and chronic bacterial and viral infections- including Chronic Lyme Disease. The current primary goal of this organization is providing multi-illness research, clinical care and social service access assistance through the NeuroEndocrineImmune (NEI) Center, planned for New Jersey. Already, they have support from the New Jersey legislature through a Senate resolution. The NEI Center is the first research center to incorporate biomedical and clinical research, quality patient care, and social service assistance, all in one state-of-the-art facility for all these NeuroEndocrineImmune disorders.

5) Click on "Submit" button.

How to Nominate WPI:

1) After completing the P.A.N.D.O.R.A.'s form, the page should automatically refresh so you can nominate a new charity. If it doesn't, click here.

http://www.takepart.com/membersproject/vote/nominate/

Put "Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease" in the "Organization Name" window.

2) Under location, choose "Nevada"

3) Enter your e-mail address.

4) In the "Comments" window, you can again speak from your heart as to why you think the WPI is deserving, remembering the primary criteria they want to see in the nominees:

1. be operationally stable
2. have a presence across the US
3. have a clear and meaningful mission
4. have a broad support base
5. serve diverse audiences
6. be a U.S. based 501c3

For those who would like a specific suggestion, you might enter the following in the "Comments" window:

In August, the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease (WPI), 501(c)3 corporation, celebrated the opening of their $77 million facility at the University of Nevada. According to their press release, they are the first institute in the world to integrate research, education and treatment of neuro-immune diseases, such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Atypical Multiple Sclerosis, Gulf War Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), and Fibromyalgia. Even before the official grand opening, they made a break-through discovery that has provided hope to millions of people worldwide who suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, an often seriously-debilitating disorder that takes away a person's ability to do most activities, including daily grooming. The retrovirus discovery (XMRV) and possible treatment discoveries have implications for potential treatment for millions in the U.S. and around the world. It also has the potential of preventing disease in millions more.

5) Click on the "Submit" button.

By working together as one united community, we can help each other. We also encourage you to nominate whatever other patient organizations you would also like to support.
