i noticed how much better my night's sleep is when i don't nap during the day and while i have some days now where i don't feel sleepy after lunch there are still days where i simply have to nap (it feels like i am passing out) and others where i can fight the urge.

i don't use caffeine and i want to keep it that way but maybe there are other methods that help with staying awake?

Hi
That works different for me , I do my best by trying not to nap, then at night I drink a lot of caffeine and that knocks me right out!
My Daughter is exactly the same.
We both have the opposite affect on most medicines. Example a prescribed sleep medicine will keep us awake for days after only one small pill.
Ambien does work for me most of the time but caffiene works Great!

Same - if I don't nap, I sleep better. But I think the nap is a response to 'overdoing' it. Unfortunately, for me that could mean cooking a meal or a short phone call, followed a few hours later by passing out and waking up feeling disoriented and much more exhausted than when I went to sleep. Feels like a small PEM crash, and I get them several times a week even if I do almost nothing.

Such a small and meaningless existence.

i had those nosedives even before i got me-cfs and my dad has them as well (he doesn't have me-cfs). it might be mast cell related idk but i think it's definitely related to eating something (not the act of cooking).

what's so weird about it, it's not related to what i eat nor to how much as i eat basically the same every day, yet the fatigue afterwards varies wildly.

For many years (decades) I was convinced it was related to eating, but now I'm not so sure. I think it could be somewhat connected, but I think there's more factors.

The activity the previous two days seems to impact it for me, which is why I couldn't figure it out for decades. If I eat the same thing on Mon, Tues, Wed at the same times, how come one day I crash and the next day I don't?

It never occurred to me that a long telephone call on Monday might lead to a small crash on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I think yesterday was my 3rd or 4th day drinking it, and I didn't take a nap and I was still working in the kitchen at 9:00. I slept much better last night, too.

I'm glad you're doing well with the Dragon Herbs Longevity tea. What time of day have you found is best to drink it?

I've been drinking it throughout the day, but not too much at a time. I always have some with my meals. I've been not so uncomfortable after eating. I don't ever drink the whole quart that I make from one tea bag in a day.

You're right, the taste is pleasant. I add it to my regular tea, along with some lemon and sugar, or lemon and stevia.

Thank you again for mentioning it.

I push breakfast very late. Then I try to avoid eating for six hours. So I rarely nap in the afternoons. I'll lie down but not nap. I want to, I just don't let myself.

I used to nap in the afternoons alot, and I think I was "worse" when that was happening. So I am a bit encouraged

I have the exact same problem. Stimulants don't work, I tried so many.
The best thing I came up with is not letting myself close my eyes. I just lie down and stare at a wall until I feel a little bit stronger.

I know that feeling. You can't stay awake.
I often think about it when I have insomnia in the middle of the night. Crazy.

i went to the shop today but they didn't have anything like it (not even remotely), i bought rosemary tea instead. will report back on how/if it works
As a digestive remedy, there is significant evidence of rosemary’s use for a series of different gastrointestinal issues. This includes being used for excessive gas and bloating, by calming the stomach and reducing any overactive digestion activity. Because it is also a known anti-inflammatory, this can be particularly useful for stomach issues because they are so often triggered by chronic inflammation. By reducing the inflammatory response, rosemary can subsequently reduce chronic gut pain.

Has any one tried bright light therapy?
I bought one that you set the light close to you and it turns on a low light that gradually increases intensity to mimic sun rise .
It is supposed to stimulate the body to wake up and to start the body functions.
When you first wake up.
I tried it and it did not seem to help me. But I dont know if I had it on the right settings or tried it long enough.
I think I will give it another try.

i have the sun shining in my room all afternoon so i doubt a lamp would do any difference

i drank the rosemary tea the last three days and idk if it is a detox reaction or something but i had some crazy farts (but no bloating) and my stools are much better (but i also stopped taking my basic powder), no change in the fatigue after lunch yet though. in fact yesterday i was in a slump all afternoon, should've napped, would've been the better alternative... the tea seems to exacerbate my tinnitus though

i wonder if it is related to too little blood in my body and if the blood flows to my stomach for digestion it's missing somewhere else. but then why would it only happen sometimes? idk, just speculating here.
