Hormonal Contraception and Sleep

I find that progestogen-only methods of contraception are one of the only things which help me to sleep. They seem to calm my mind and heart palpitations and make me feel 'normal'.

However, the side-effects are so awful that I often give up on them quite quickly.

I really don't understand the science, so for those of you who do, please could you tell me if there are any supplements that work in a similar way?

I've tried using natural progesterone cream instead but it doesn't have such a strong effect, and it often gives me night sweats ( presumably from disrupting the balance with estrogen?).
