CCI and cervical collars, etc.

I am having a hard time with cervical collars. I first got an Aspen but it just didn't fit me, so I got a different back panel, still didn't fit. My PTs all thought it was just too big for me. So I got a Miami J collar in size xs. This one fits much better and is much more comfortable. But it really starts to ache after about 20-30 minutes of wearing it. So I am wondering other folks experience with fitting and then getting used to wearing a cervical collar? I am really hoping to get used to wearing one especially for long car rides, etc.

Update on wearing this collar. I have been wearing it for car rides and last months airplane flights, take-off and landing. It still is pretty uncomfortable when I am wearing it. I get nauseous when I first put it on and sometimes a mast cell flush and it triggers my TMJ. BUT- overall seems to be helping me not crash after those car rides like I used to. And seems to be very slightly correcting my loss of cervical lordosis.
I am mostly homebound and live in a rural location. It's 30-45 minute one way drive on curvy roads to "town" and my basic med providers. (1-2x per week) And 2-4 hours one-way to my specialists.( 1-2x per month) All these car ride retrigger my neuro issues. I do wonder what would happen if I stayed home for a month or two? Any thoughts on this?

Have you been fitted for one? I think it’s recommend that you get a special fitting. There is a great Facebook page that could help it’s called ME/CFS brain and spine.

My PT did help me fit my collar, she didn't have experience with the exact collar but we watched the video tutorials together. I had to try a bunch of different ones before I found the one that fit.

I just wear my collar in the car for now. I would if i flew in an airplane or took a train/bus, etc. They say not to wear more than 4 hours total in a 24 hour day. unless directed otherwise by your medical provider.
