Looking for updates from those that have used lactoferrin. On paper, it seems to be a wonderful supplement, but it seems to be making me feel worse. Can this be a sign of it working, or just the wrong thing for me? Any suggestions appreciated!

I used colostrum and it gave me terrible panic attacks. I could only manage to take it for 1 week at a time and then I’d take a break for a few months and then try again for a week each time. I had very minimal improvement in energy levels but never sustained it and those panic attacks really weren’t worth it. I’m guessing the change in gut biome balance freaked my brain out.

I too cant tolerate colostrum in its original form. But I prepare a batch of 1 liter kefir and add 10 gm colostrum powder and let it ferment in the fridge. Then I drink 60 ml one hr before food. It helps a lot with food sensitivities. Same applies to probiotics in my case.

After I started making and taking this formulation my food sensitivity on a scale of 1 to 10 improved from 2 to 9. I still cant take some spices which are too concentrated. But other than that it has given me the freedom to eat tasty foods.

I was told to try lactoferrin to help with iron overload but it seems that it also helps with microbial infections and lowers ttyptase. Super stoked to try it now

I had to stop taking lactoferrin these past few years. My gums were so sensitive , along with nerves everywhere else.

After increasing Calcium for 4 mnths., healing nerves, and having a recurrence of a respiratory virus, I decided to retry lactoferrin. ( I'm guessing calcium may help decrease lactoferrin side effects.)

It does look great in medical papers, and I became desperate. My old remedies weren't working anymore.
Now, I was able to take as much as 750 mgs. daily with no pain.

I open the capsule and empty into mouth for better absorption.

There's new research regarding lactoferrin's potential to inhibit covid- 19.

https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.08.11.244996v4.full

It's even being tested on humans :

https://ijrhs.org/sites/default/files/IntJResHealthSci-8-1-8.pdf

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/rmv.2261

We know that this may apply to some people, not everyone.
I'm glad to be able to tolerate it.

It's funny though, Lactoferrin is healing some skin lesions I have , but the lung inflammation has been reduced more by the vitamin K-1 I restarted yesterday. ( I was having nosebleeds again. K-1 is necessary for lung protection too. odd )

Lactoferrin increases interferon . That may be part of the reason for side effects.

What are lactoferrin and colostrum supposed to do for ME/CFS?

@Alvin2 ,

If your ME/CFS is caused by an infection or susceptibility to it, then lactoferrin may be an aid.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/labs/pmc/articles/PMC7551115/

Lactoferrin is an extremely adaptable protein that has been designated by natural selection to be a first-line defence in mammals. This key protein of natural immunity shows many kinds of marvellous biological activities in vitro and in vivo and helps us to defend against external aggressions both of infectious and non-infectious origin. In fact, being positively charged, it can bind numerous surface molecules or metal ions inducing the host’s immunomodulatory activation, which in turn affects both adaptive and innate immunity.

The idea is that colostrum helps your GI tract lining. Hip had a post about this somewhere. But I think it has a few uses. Feeling a bit foggy mind you (booster jab) so hopefully I've got that right.

Lactoferrin not very clear cut on that one do think it does anything for ME that I remember.

@Alvin2 ,

It's not a miraculous cure for ME, but may be good as part of a regimen. Smaller doses, pulsed may work even better.
I'll be reducing the dose once I've knocked out this lung virus.

Prices for everything have soared. madness
