Hey,

No point in talking to my doctor about this because he will tell me that there is no link and I am imagining it but I though maybe someone here can shed some light on this.

My cfs has been improving some what and i am able to take on somewhat more activity as long as it it not increasing my heart rate too much, the problem i have with anything that lifts my heart rate (ie hoovering) is that i start belching, then I get palpitations, dizziness and then i find it difficult to take a deep breath and have pressure in my chest whilst a continuos barrage of non stop belching continues for 30 mins, as soon as the belching stops i start to recover. The chest pain continue for a while and i assume it's heart burn.

I am positive that my palpitations, Difficulty getting a deep breath and belching are linked, i just don't know if my heart is upsetting my gut or vies versa.

I have read this could be hiatus hernia related as i have one of those, Have had my Heart checked a year ago by a cardiologists and he told me it was stress related and offered me anti depressants :D

I also have the difficulty getting a deep breath. Maybe you're swallowing air when you take a breath? Just a shot in the dark, I have no idea your breathing habits... this sounds very uncomfortable, so my sympathies. I know I labour for breath sometimes and it sometimes hurts my blood vessels in my head. Sometimes just talking or trying to do simple things makes me gasp for breath. Could be we have different symptoms for similar problems.

Some people here have heart rate monitors to make sure they don't go over a certain threshold. I don't have one myself but it seems like a good idea.

I have this exact same issue!! I am relieved to find someone else who also suffers from it (as odd as that sounds).

I find that as I start to exert myself, I get a feeling like a belch stuck in my chest, which builds, and then isn't relieved until I can finally belch it out (which only occurs once I am at rest and get my heart rate to slow back down again). When this occurs I also feel breathless.

From what I've read the symptoms themselves are very similar to angina, but I have had all sorts of heart tests, which of course didn't find anything (although I have not had a CT angio-gram - because I am 28 they thought I was too young to have blocked arteries).

In Dr Mercola's video about krill oil he stated that belching is a result of fermentation of non-absorbed foods in the gut.

When I give my thoughts free rein I think this could imply to your situation:
  • Low blood volume
  • Low cardiac output
  • Sympathic activation
  • Upright position>more sympathetic activation
beta-receptors>tachycardia>palpitations
alpha-receptors>splanchnic vasocontriction>splanchnic hypoperfusion>malabsorbtion>belching

People with increased sympathic activation (heart failure, low blood volume, pheochromocytoma) also experience chronic GI complaints so I think the bad splanchnic circulation is upsetting your gut, but I'm not sure...

Hi, Jono, I am also 28 and had ekgs and an echo done and all was said to be normal. It's quite frustrating to not have answers.

Emootje that's very interesting and I have long wandered after watching one of dr Cheney videos weather it was my heart upsetting the gut.

One doctor i see said he thinks is it is due too to many histamines in the heart from leaky gut which reduced it's output.

What i find the strangest with all of these things is how much my symptoms vary from week to week, how sometimes activity can improve me and sometimes it can make life worse.

Another possibility:
  • leaky gut
  • translocation endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide, LPS)
  • increased endothelin-1 (ET-1)
  • increased atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP)
  • low blood volume

Your priority should be your leaky gut.

"Plasma volume fell, and plasma atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) rose, after LPS
administration"
