Yes, in Germany they barely test. Still now, you get ONLY tested if you have Fever and contact to someone with COVID
or
You were in a risk area.
This is like not testing at all.
No testing on medical staff. And I think they lie about the death numbers.
I heard that Frau Merkel got a pneumonia shot because her doctor apparently has the virus. Is it advisable to get a pneumonia shot for the older folk then? I thought pneumonia was for strep infection not virus.

here won't be enough ventilators. They just don't have enough and they won't be able to make them or pay for them fast enough. I believe the UK and the US have less vents per capita than Italy

Some of the UK manufacturers in the space of a week have made a prototype ventilator in about a week that is working and they are just waiting on the UK Government for the go ahead to start production. One company was McClaren of F1 fame and the other I saw was G Tech. I think the G Tech company said once agreed they can produce 11000 a week. I got this from a Sky news report btw. All very impressive.

They were also talking about setting up hotels in London as makeshift hospitals but not sure if they are still thinking that way in view of the NHS' new deal.

This is what they are doing in New York city, New York, here in the United States.

Army plans to turn NYC hotel, dorm rooms into coronavirus hospitals

New York’s beleaguered hotel industry is getting drafted to help out in the disease outbreak that threatens its very survival.

The US Army Corps of Engineers has plans to take over as many as 10,000 hotel rooms, college dormitories and other spaces in New York for medical services as the number of coronavirus hospitalizations rises exponentially, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Thanks for posting about the London doctor. Even here in London the public do not really get it at all. When I last went out in the car to an appt a week ago, people were in shops and cafes and restaurants and not staying 2 feet from each other at all. All this while the hospitals in London are in crisis.

Boris Johnson has a press conference today. He’s addressing the nation which I think means lockdown is coming.

Bacterial pneumonia can occurr secondarily which worsens the outcome. There were recommendations for older people to be vaccinated against streptococcus.
