A Bad Day…..

I tried to upload a photo of the junk but it was too large. I could reduce the size and post if anyone is interested in seeing how bad it was. They finally picked up the junk a couple of days ago, it took them long enough. But I will have more junk to get rid of so most of it will go into the big barrels. I'm not sure how the rest of the city is doing

I started a new helper last tuesday, he was supposed to come today but didn't show up. Either its too much work or not enough hours but I will find another helper. I'm paying $20 an hour which is good for this area. With a little luck I will be getting new carpet in jan, maybe early jan. Temperatures are good right now, 60s or 70s in the day and maybe 50s at night

I think I may have backslid a quarter of a level or more from all the recent drama but it hasn't been long so I might recover some of it back. Or I will try something that helped others and it will fix me up. I'm slowly getting things done and money is not a problem so in a couple months things will be better.

I saw something on the weather about another storm system forming in the gulf but no way! And dont tell me things usually happen in 3s, I don't want to hear that. 2 record breaking hurricanes along with a flood is quite enough. This may be my last update on the situation

I finally got this lovely pic to show up. Isnt that what you want to see in front of your home? They finally picked it up but if you go a block or two you see piles of junk and branches still.

You can tell who has hardwood floors because they have piles of boards out front. I have concrete floor with nylon carpets. I will get the new carpet one day. Someone is coming tomorrow to work

I think I recovered a little more from the crash. I lost some weight which is good. Weather is mild. I plan to move to higher ground one day

When millton came through, the gusts sounded like a freight train roaring past. The whole house shook and I never knew if the next blast would tear it down. Those gusts can turn into mini tornados which are very destructive. That went on for hours. It would stop for 20 minutes and you think its over then you hear another blast coming roaring like the end of the world

That was days after the flood. I went to bed by flashlight and saw the water rise not sure how high it would go. There were little sparkles in the water and when I splashed it, there were lots of sparkles which were fairly bright. I mánaged to sleep somehow.

In case anyone is still interested in what happened next, here is the update. I got lazy in jan, I had bad brain fog and thought if I took it easy for a week or so I'd get over it. But no, it seems to be permanent so far and not much energy. I'm moving a box every day now, sorting a box, moving it away or tossing out. Now I hope to start on carpet in a couple months. I'll leave that to the pros. I very much underestimated how much work was to be done and how much I would have to do myself unless I just wanted to throw everything out without sorting through. Last year I actually thought it would be done by end of dec. Now I hope for april or may

They first cleared the main roads, then lesser roads, then began picking up stuff. It seems mostly done though you can still find a pile or two of junk if you look. An apartment complex paid to have all the junk hauled away in oct and did not wait. I guess its hard to rent a place when it looks like its in the middle of a garbage heap. It seems like everyone is having their roof fixed.

I found a few more things that don't work. It seems that if it had any electronic controls in it, it went bad without getting wet, just being nearby. Computer, monitor, phone, micro, washer dryer, etc. But things with no fancy controls that got wet, worked fine when dry. I finally got the lawn mowed, everything is more expensive now seemingly as an after effect of the storm. Repair people can cherry pick the jobs they want to do and they price them way high even after 4 months.

I stopped having people come in to work for now. They want at least 2 hours work or more and there isn't that much ready and getting it ready is the main part of the work and I have to do it, sorting through. So I just plug away and some day things might be back to normal

Storm helene did a number on the carolinas too, lots of destruction. The current administration is finally fixing it from what I hear. I believe geogia and a couple other states were hit as well
