Methylation Protocol Reaction Help

Hello Everyone!
This is my first post. I've been reading for 4 months now and have been able to answer all my questions from reading posts up until now. I'm heterozygous for A1298c and C677T. I've been following Fred's Methylation protocol for 3.5 months and have seen some great results! I'm 29, have had chronic fatigue, brain fog, mood issues for as long as I can remember. 5 years ago, my symptoms became worse after 3 months of intense stress.

I became very sensitive to almost all foods. I had stomach pain often after eating. I had trouble digesting fats and proteins and most grains. My stomach was bloated 24/7 for 5 years. Fast forward to now after working on healing for several years and I can eat just about anything except gluten. My gut really improved after taking b12 and folate as Fred suggests. I became really agitated/anxious when I first began taking B12.

I was taking 4mg of B12 and 6.4mg of Folate, 3mg of AdoB12 for 2 months and feeling good. Took 3-4 grams of potassium daily. I would get a migraine if I became low in K. Mood definitely improved. Stomach bloating had subsided for the first time in 5 years. energy improved but was irregular. I could tolerate any amount of b12,folate and Adob12 with no noticeable change. If I stopped taking all supplements, I'd have poor mood. I was taking b complex, zinc, cal/mag, vit D, Vit C.

After week 4 since starting, I took liquid Carnitine Fumarate. I could tolerate this fine and did not notice any change. 2 months since starting I was feeling decent but still having low energy and brain fog. I started taking carnitine fumarate powder. started with 200mg/ day and got really sick. Waited a few days and then took 42mg. Tolerated this well and took 2-3 doses per day for 7 days. Became very anxious/depressed but could handle it. Around day 7 I crashed and could not tolerate any carnitine fumarate of any dose.

This happened 5 weeks ago today. I'm still feeling weak and the bloating has returned. I can't tolerate any b12 or folate now without feeling worse. My body feels worn out. I know that methylation is just one piece of the puzzle for me as I have been diagnosed with lymph drainage issues, Epstein Barr Infection and liver congestion. I'm taking some drainage/ detox remedies that a functional medicine doctor suggested and plan to try b12 and folate later. Any ideas? Thanks for reading.

Losing the benefit from/ no-longer tolerating B12/ folate/ carnitine is something a number of us have experienced. In general I would say that the reason is that some other nutrient(s) has become limiting.

Here is a thread discussing some of the issues. I made a new post today adding some info.
