In this Teleconference, Dr. Katz, a specialist in infectious diseases and a prominent figure in national blood banking organizations, will provide in-depth background about the virus and its taxonomic relationships, bring you up to date on XMRV research initiatives, and clarify the issues surrounding the virus in transfusion medicine.

Following the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

Identify the taxonomic relationships of XMRV
Recognize the disease associations that are being proposed for XMRV
Justify the emerging interest in XMRV in transfusion medicine
Evaluate current research initiatives

Dr. Katz is a representative on the CDC study

Does anyone know if this has any connection to the U.S. blood supply announcement we are all waiting for?

I sent this info to one of our national ME organizations in the hope that we can get blood supply people and other medical authorities interested.

Or do they stop learning once they are in the job.

I am hoping to attend this teleconference. I'm also hoping my work will pay for it!

No word yet if it will be paid for but one person may actually register, while more may actually be able to view the teleconference.

Don't like the use of 'proposed'. It shows they are still trying to minimize and subtly discredit the science.

Seems like this is a way for him and his org to make a quick buck- it costs $154 to listen in.

I would think it is timed for a bit after the announcement to maximize viewership.

I liked this quote from your link Impish:

Efforts are underway by the FDA and CDC to find effective tests for and determine the prevalence of XMRV.

I guess that if they believe that the prevalence is about 0%, like they found in the other attempts to replicate the study (both in samples from healthy and sick people), then why bother to look for the prevalence in the population?

Sounds good to me :Retro smile:

And when this person also is involved in the CDC replication study, then I think chances are good that they've found something.

I dare not say what I hope it is, and what may be about to happen. We all want out of this mess, and the hand that we may have been dealt...? Well, we want out, so I will think about it if, and when, it happens.

I thought this talk was going to be available to us to listen to. Does anyone know? Was it not open to the public or on the internet?
