(((((((((((((dmarie))))))))))))

I feel exactly the same way you do but I think it's just that everyone is trying their best here to understand what's going on and to keep up with it. Come into Chat sometimes and you'll see we are very caring and everyone is feeling overwhelmed by all that we are faced with. Sometimes we just blow off stream in there and goof off which is a nice way to bond with everyone here. This thread in particular is very intense. But I am grateful for everyone's contribution to it as I learn a lot whether I completely agree with what someone is saying or not.

ladybug, thank you so much for posting all of that information. I really hope we can all keep it in mind when we're evaluating this situation.

Permission to Repost...

A message from Professor Malcolm Hooper

Moderator note: post removed while permission to repost issue is resolved.

"Methodological exactitude" feels so good on the tongue!

And, Gerwin's writing on this is so exciting that I actually checked his profile to see if he was married. Imagine having easy access to that marvelous brain!

He is.

So you can't keep science and politics seperate with ME. They go hand in hand, more's the pity. People who have seen the political shennanigans before have every right to express their worries and opinions, just as much as yours. [It's not up to you to decide what's right to post and what's not. What makes you and your ideas so very special? You're not better than anyone else.

The first two sentences aren't personal attacks at all! Ridiculous. Maybe the last sentence yes, but not the first two. So much for free speech, just as long as it suits certain people eh? What is the point?

Hey Sparklehorse,

As Robin doesn't appear to be online I thought I'd follow this up. The last little quip was the main offender, Robin was just making a call for calmer heads as fevers do tend to run a little high during these study releases. I hope you continue to post freely, we try to mod as little as possible but we're all a little heightened over the latest news and contrasting opinions and writing styles often add fuel to the fire, but you make a great contribution to the board and I hope to see more of your postings.

Who would have thought on first glance on Monday, this is where this thread would be today??? Is today only Wednesday?? Wow!! And Gerwyn is receiving proposals and...and...and ....George well...I mean George is a dog - shouldn't George be on TV or something? Couldn't we make enough money for a bunch of research with a talking dog with that kind of smarts????

Sick people, many who can hardly get out of bed - boggles the mind!

It's bloody fantastic. It's about time one of the UK advocates had the bollocks to speak up. <---- practicing my newly learned UK slang

Malcolm Hooper is a British biochemist and emeritus professor of medicinal chemistry at the University of Sunderland...In 2002, The Guardian reported on the conflict over the nature of CFS/ME and whether there is an ongoing pathological process in the illness, contrasting advocates of a biological basis, such as Hooper, De Merleir, and Komaroff with advocates of a psychosocial basis, such as Professor Simon Wessely. Hooper states that growing scientific work shows extensive change and injury to the neuro-endocrine-immune systems of patients. He also described biochemical dysfunction, and physiological changes in the bodies of patients. He is the Medical Adviser for The Grace Charity for M.E.

Hi folks,

Bob has informed me that there's some confusion about permission to repost the Malcolm Hooper note. While he tries to resolve the permission to repost issue, I will snip the quote out of his (and others) posts.

Thanks.

ETA: if permission is granted I will restore it!

Oh dang. Does that mean we cannot keep saying 'methodological exactitude' and 'skulduggery' anymore?

:tear::tear::tear:

Legally I have no idea! But I left them intact because they're so hilarious.

I think because they're just two phrases and not the post in its entirety it's OK.
