Hi,

My Doctor told me I should detox with a IR sauna, the type that is like a sleeping bag?

Wanted to ask has anyone got any info on detoxing and which one to buy, I am in uk if anyone knows of a place here.

Also has anyone seen marked improvements from detoxing as they seems expensive?

Thanks,
Jerry

Hey,

Myhill's site's got a nice section on them, including approved companies to buy the sit-in or blanket versions from: http://www.drmyhill.co.uk/article.cfm?id=368

A little expensive. I actually picked mine up on ebay - sent over from China - for about 90. (Mine's a sit-in though.)

Yeah, I think it's probably played a large part in my progress. It's hard to know exactly how much because obviously they can leave you a little wiped out - whether it's just a little exhausting or whether it's mobilizing toxins.

Probably the best way to detox things like mercury and PCBs, and it also speeds the metabolism up and helps you fight viruses by inducing a temperature. Interesting Japanese study where daily FIR saunas and post-sauna warming cured two CFS patients completely in a relatively short space of time.

One thing I'd advise is making sure you've got your mineral levels up. MyHill's Magic Minerals formula is perfect to take after a sauna, as you lose minerals as well as toxins in sweat. (I think saunas, early on, could've been making my magnesium deficiency worse. So I laid off them for a while and focused more on transdermal magnesium and oral supplements until I felt my levels were okay - which I judged by seeing how I reacted to transdermal magnesium, and noticing general stress and hyperventilation symptoms.)

I'd certainly recommend them.

Hi Carter,
Do you have a link to that Japanese study ? Would love to read more about that.

nutrients depleted in sauna

Just reading my notes I took when reading Sherry Rogers 'detoxify or die'. Scary title but good book.

She says magneium is the main mineral lost , followed by zinc and calcium.

Hey Carter,

Thanks I think I am going to try the blanket type. Is MMM powder based and I assume I get it from her like I do the Ribose and L Carnitine?

Thanks, J

Here's some of those Japanese studies:

Hey, yeah, if you're already with Myhill she should be able to supply the MMM. Very cost effective way of getting all the right minerals. I was spending loads previously on a Multimineral pill, and having to add additional Magnesium, Calcium and Zinc, and it still wasn't very complete.

I think getting mineral levels up has probably been one of the most important parts of my program. Think I'd been low on Magnesium and Zinc for a long time. But I'm pretty sure I had to use magnesium transdermally to get levels up initially.
