Percy stated this really negative comment from a physican he received. I have a story. Early when I contracted CFS I went looking for a PCP general MD provider to coordinate care and document my disability. One MD physician I visited commented to me after a first visit that he didn't believe in disability and would not support my claim because he felt that everyone can work no matter what their illness. I spend about half an hour criticizing him and his irrational beliefs about disability. He didn't respond and I walked out of the clinic to find another doctor. I filed a report with the state medical board about him and they started an investigation which took no action against the doctor. Be very careful to ask your doctor about his beliefs about disability or you will probably be wasting time and jeopardize your claim.

Very intersting.

My doctor though thought on me: "He is almost as stupid as an animal, there is no hope for him."

(In fact animals are not as stupid as doctors think.)

I have had the eyerolls, the you need to get out and take a walk... All the regular things they did say to me.

But, Very recently I got a DO now she is an MD. A Do is taught differently; to see the whole body as a. (Imagine that!):)

She told me she absolutely believes us, that the best we can do is to build a good medical team around me and keep looking at how my bodily organs might be affected by being sick for so long. She mostly orders blood work every 3 months and watches for vitamin deficiencies and works with me in that way. She supports me supplementing with magnesium, Vit D3, folic acid, B12, even ordering shots I can do at home. She explains how the vitamins work together and with food.

Fantastic!

She sent me to a very kind cardiologist, who also knows ME/CFS is physical. I went to him yesterday. He is ordering some more tests to see if my heart is being harmed. He told me he thinks that the studies are going to show that this is a combination of things with some viruses in play.

In my opinion The medical community is starting to open their minds to us really being sick and not crazy, or lazy. The debunking of PACE and GET are playing a large part in this!

So I don't know how to vote in your poll. I have horror stories, then in the past year things are changing.

For being complete, it was an answere to a post by @JES in the thread "It´s affecting dogs and cats now."
A course of CBT/GET could be useful to reverse the false illness beliefs of these animals.

So, on the one hand it was a joke, especially.

On the other hand, jes, the doctor came to the conclusion that my false illness believe cannot be holpen by CBT.
And I have given her good research which makes my slow - and difficult - improvement understandable enough.

Her behaviour was not meant as an insultation,
but in fact it was one, because she didn´t look at the possibility that I could be right.
I know it´s not easy for doctors, but a democracy with that sort of thinking ...

15 years back I have read an internet post by a mother with an eight years old child.
The child didn´t recover after an EBV infection.
The doctor would have said: "The child should not come up with so much fuss." An eight year old child!

I'm not sure how to vote on this, because I've only been to one doctor since I figured out that this was ME, and he accepts that self-diagnosis (or at least seems to). I've had lots of bad experiences from doctors who rejected my claims of being ill because the general tests didn't show any significant abnormalities. I can't remember any responses being belittling, but many were dismissive of my illness.
