@Luther Blissett, ouuuu a new story, thank you! :) Sounds like your day started out lovely and then....

I'm in suspense! What happened!?? Do tell, if you're up to it so I don't have to google search.

I'm having a good day, :)
Lets go outside... :cautious::wide-eyed:
??? Hmm, what is that smell?
 It's not good
:vomit: ... like vinegar and manure
o_O:confused: ... *sniff* not coming from general waste bin,
o_O:confused: ... *sniff* not coming from the recycled bin,
o_O:confused: ... *sniff* not coming from the bucket o'stink (rotting garden waste in compost and water)
:cautious::vomit: ... this is nasty, seems to be everywhere not just the garden...
:rolleyes::thumbdown: ... maybe it is the water company flushing the drains after all the complaints in the city centre,
:meh:... whatever it is must go inside to escape it, pity, was looking forward to relaxing outside.

Today after reading the paper....
:wide-eyed: ... "City stink caused by farmers spreading rotting fish guts for fertilizer"
:rolleyes::rolleyes: ... hmm, maybe not spread it on a sunny, warm, windy day?
:p

I googled 'Yorkshire smell'

Most results seemed to involve Yorkshire terriers - e.g.
Why does my Yorkie always smell so bad?
I have a year old Yorkie. He's very happy and healthy... However, he has a certain odor that is ALWAYS there.
It's not his breath or ears. His breath does smell bad but it's a different stinky smell.
Apparently issues with anal glands.

Then there was this:
http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/11063148.12_smells_of_York_captured_in_new_scented_guidebook/
The Smell York book is the UK’s first scented travel guide, aimed at tempting travellers to the city and the surrounding countryside by teasing their noses with smells
Hmm.

Then this:
"The smell is overpowering... I feel sick." Watch Examiner reporter brave abandoned Hunter Group site
Council officers are doing all they can to determine who is responsible for a mountain of stinking rubbish at an abandoned waste site in Huddersfield, according to a senior councillor.

But that was in July.

Then finally this:
People in Hull are complaining city 'smells of rotten fish' - and they're on the verge of throwing up
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/people-wondering-hull-smells-rotten-8833575

I particularly enjoyed the photo that went with the article. You know how we get a photo of an immaculately groomed woman looking a little pained to illustrate ME? Well, this is what is used to illustrate bad fish smells in Hull.

@Luther Blissett the smell of that must of been awful. I hope they discontinue that practice, and that you had a good day to be out the day after.

Edit: I forgot to say, @Luther Blissett you are really good with the emoticon story telling.

Highest ever voting!!! :bouquet::bouquet::bouquet::bouquet::bouquet:
2315 votes in the 24 hour period that I watch.
And the last week has been the best week of voting.

Here's the daily votes graph.

Comparing us (Blue Ribbon) to the other charities in the 3rd, 4th and 5th places:

You can see that the Wild Horses have woken up. But we and the wildlife people seem to be locked in struggle for 3rd place (the first and 2nd place organisations aren't shown on this chart).

For new voters: the number of votes is only part of the judging criteria for the $50,000 prize. If we can maintain this level of voting, we are well positioned to win.

I was thinking about the forthcoming IACFSME conference. That could be a great opportunity to get a spike of votes and add to the number of regular daily voters. Perhaps a quick announcement each morning with a powerpoint slide showing the website screened as people take their places and wait for the conference to start? Probably it would need to be authorised by Ryan. A similar approach would be good for the anti-GET/MAGENTA petition.

Aww thank you :bouquet:, I did :D . It was the most aggressively offensive smell I've known. Some bad smells are more of a background badness, but this was a try not to breathe it in smell. Even people who remember the big fish docks in the city said it was bad.

I guess it was just bad timing as the weather forecast was rain, but we got quite hot sun for this time of year.

I e-mailed my sister to see if she was getting the same smell, and she said she'd been checking the bottom of her shoes! So, it got us all sniffing around like suspicious dogs :dog:  , and a good 'welcome' to the new university students.

Great news and great idea re: the forthcoming IACFSME conference.
