Donating via Text Message - Just Text Giving - 70070

You can donate to charity using your PAYG phone balance or PAYM phone bill.

I thought these details about the "Just Text Giving" service might be helpful for some of you.

Just Text Giving (70070) is a non-profit service that allows you to easily donate small amounts of your phone balance to a participating charity of your choice via text messaging by sending a simple text message to 70070.

£1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 can be donated per text message, and multiple messages can be sent. This donation facility is available on all the main UK mobile networks.

The amount of your gift (which you choose and specify in your text message) is deducted from your phone balance on PAYG, or, if you pay monthly, the gift amount will be added to your monthly phone bill.

The cost of sending your text message is usually free or comes out of your bundle.

Importantly, the charity receives all of the amount gifted. (If there is a network cost for sending the text message then that is charged in addition to your gift). So if you donate £5 then the charity receives £5.

It's also possible to add Gift Aid via an online form, for which a weblink will be sent to you by return text message.

The Just Text Giving service is a non-profit service that was set up by, and is run by, Vodafone. You can find out more about it here: https://www.justgiving.com/en/justtextgiving

Many charities use the service. You'll be able to find the details of how to donate to a particular charity, on each participating charity's website. For example, ME Research UK have details of how to donate to them using the text message service, here: http://www.meresearch.org.uk/support-us/text-donation/ (e.g. text MEUK01 £5 to 70070).

And Invest in ME have details here: http://www.investinme.org/helpus.htm (e.g. text IBRF33 £5 to 70070).

If you have an old, unused or unwanted PAYG SIM card lying around with a balance on it, remember that you can donate the balance to charity.
