In an overlapping position to yours. Your timetable will change how you do things but a general strategy is to reverse the order of things from what first seems natural.

i.e. instead of thinking about how youre going to gothru things and throw things out, think about what you absolutely have to keep when you move. Just do the visible stuff. walk thru each room and say: if i only had one suitcase i can take with me, what would i have to have from each room? And i've done this also then with saying ok, I can manage to pack 5 boxes - what do i absolutely have to have if I can use 5 boxes.

Too much to type but another reversalis dont' think you have to go through stuff first before contiuniuing with plan to move - start with the goal and work backwards. Find the dream place you want to live first. Once you have that, your natural problem solving instincts will tell you how to meet that goal- i can spell this out after youve found the dream place.

and of course, isn't this what daughers are for?

now my issue is how do i find my dream place when i don't know where I want to live and can only drive 3 miles and can't take uber and can't get a ride from a friend to check out towns and the like.

Sorry for being away so long, there are many things to attend to here at home. All seems to be happening at the same time but at least I can handle most of it with the improvement in my health. I want to clarify what I wrote about the irritable bowel protocol which I take. It is not just a matter of eliminating the gluten. Dr. Klimas told me about a website which tells you what you can eat and what to avoid. I think it was IBSdiets.org but I'm not exactly sure. I have the list of what is allowed and should be avoided posted on my kitchen wall. I have to be very careful about taking ice cream, chocolate and cream based pasta sauce. I eat a lot of gluten free pasta, rice, potatoes and fruit and salad.

I have tons I want to keep, and tons I’ve been saving for my daughter, and tons that just needs to go away.

One important thing is to really accept that you're not going to be fully healthy any time soon. I had collected all sorts of 'useful stuff' for all those projects I wanted to do someday. However, I can't even find the energy to do simple little projects, and I'm not expecting that to change anytime soon. I really do not picture myself several years in the future wishing I had kept that truck axle or big water tank. I spent a lot of effort collecting hardwood for woodworking projects. I spent a whole trip from Vancouver to Alberta just to haul it all. I eventually gave it away to someone healthy who might appreciate it. When I moved from my last property to this one, I had someone haul away all my scrap metal, because I finally accepted that I wasn't going to build stuff with it.

So, if you can barely spend any time out of bed, is there really any point in keeping those tons of stuff? Is it really worth the extra stress on your body to pack it and move it and unpack it? For that matter, is it worth the mental stress of worrying about it? It hurt to see all those 'dream projects' go away, but it also felt like a huge weight had lifted from me. So, think about what's in those tons of stuff, and what the likely probability is that you'll actually have a chance to enjoy it in the future.

For the tons waiting for your daughter: let her decide what she wants to keep and what she doesn't want, which might be different from what you imagine.

For stuff that needs to go away, don't get too hung up on selling it yourself. My sister has had some 'good stuff' that she tried to sell, and found that it just wasn't worth the effort. Even listing stuff for free is often more trouble than it's worth. You think it's worth something, but other people will maybe accept it if you deliver it to their door at a time that's convenient for them. Unless it's something really valuable, it's probably better to just cut your losses and have it hauled away. If there's a consignment store or some other business that will pick such stuff up, to save you the effort, that would probably be a good choice.


I would far rather find myself someday in the position to be able to do projects again and have to buy tools and materials, than be stuck in bed with ME because the stress of keeping all that stuff is keeping me sick.

Yes, hopefully my daughter will have their house built before I sell here, and she can take what she wants. I’ll try to eliminate as much as I can In the meantime. Bit by bit...

Physically, I'm doing not too bad. I think my ability to engage in projects is worse than it was 10 yrs ago or so. I can think about projects, but when it comes down to actually doing something, my mental energy evaporates. I can mange tasks that are absolutely required, such as fixing a leaking pipe, but tasks that can be left for later do get left for later, again and again. :meh:

Someone posted a link ( https://forums.phoenixrising.me/thr...treadway-mt-et-al-trends-cogn-sci-2019.82158/ ) to a paper about how cytokines may induce motivational impairment. I haven't looked at the quality of the research, but it certainly fits my lack of ability to do tasks.

Interesting, that sounds like me also. I feel like I can do more, I really am not very sick lately... so inflammatory cytokines could be the problem?

It could be increased cytokine levels, or it could be an overactive response to cytokines. A researcher could test your blood and say that your levels were normal and thus cytokines weren't the cause of your symptoms, but that assumes that your body is functioning normally. What if instead of triggering production of 3 molecules of a certain protein, each cytokine molecule triggered production of 30? What if instead of doing its reaction and then breaking down, the cytokine molecule doesn't break down immediately and instead does its reaction multiple times? I think there may be lots of possibilities for overreactions to 'normal' levels of cytokines.

I don't know. I don't have MCAS, so I haven't made an effort to study it. I'll leave that to someone else. Maybe to someone who's intrigued. ;)

I just object to diagnostic decisions that are based on 'normal' levels. A good example is how doctors say "Tsh is high, you have hypothyroidism, supplemental T4 will solve all your problems.", ignoring the fact that some people have problems converting T4 to T3, or other such uncommon thyroid system abnormalities. So, saying "serum cytokines are 'normal', so there's no need to look further into other aspects of the immune system(s)" is simply wrong. Maybe some people have a different level of cytokines for their optimal health.

I have slightly elevated Tsh, but supplemental T4 or T3 don't have a noticeable effect. My hypothesis is that glial activation leads to elevated kynurenines, and one of those--picolinic acid--elevates MIPS1-alpha, which in turn elevates Trh and thus Tsh. Thus, my elevated Tsh is simply an indication of a downstream effect of ME, rather than a problem with my thyroid system. My endocrinologist did not want to hear that. :grumpy:

In a nut shell, MCAS is mast cells releasing too many chemicals, so same basic concept. I definitely don’t know anatomy or microbiology or anything, but they sound like they could be linked. So after reading the intro again, I guess the point would be to increase dopamine?
