Is there a test to determine those levels?

i think there are some test strips (for urine) available at amazon. not sure how accurate they are. they show just finite number of levels (crude), so not a fine measurement, but may give indication of "too much". also, i think you have to buy many as opposed to a few for a quick test.

These strips are not designed for urine, but for industrial use. I haven't seen anyone ever mention actual urine strips - I don't think they exist. People are basically using the industrial strips, and guessing about what it means, which is quite dodgy since pH has a big impact on the strips as well. As such, they can't be used to diagnose an excess of sulfur in urine, but can possibly be used to detect a change in sulfur levels - though even that is questionable if urine pH also changes.

So is there a way to test to see if CBS mutations are under control?

She suggested I eat some onions but I never had a problem with them or with garlic or other foods with sulphur.

The right one is linked in my signature. It's the same one that Yasko uses, just direct from the source, so it's cheaper.

I didn't have problems with any sulfur foods, but I did have a problem tolerating methylcobalamin, and got the classic "stress/anxiety reaction" as described by Heartfixer. This was, of course, a bad situation, as I desperately needed methylcobalamin, yet I couldn't tolerate it. My urine sulfate was a consistent 1200 over 5-7 days. I also have CBS C699T (the major one).

After completing the CBS protocol, I was able to tolerate methylcobalamin.

Talking to other people, if you have CBS A360A (the minor one), you can probably skip treating for CBS. Also if your urine sulfate goes up and down over several days, instead of consistently high.

Heartfixer (linked in my signature) has the best info on what to look out for, and then how to treat it. I used the Free Thiol diet instead of the low sulfur diet, and also didn't do any Yasko RNA supps. But otherwise I followed what Heartfixer said to do, and it all worked out ok.

@caledonia I have no problem with Methyl B12. In fact I specifically asked my NP yesterday if I should be taking. I can't remember what my CBS mutation is right now but she wants me on molybdenum so I will take it.

The CBS varations focused on by Yasko aren't capable of causing problems. So I'm not sure how they could ever be out of control.
