Hi,
I've just had a Faecal Microbiology report which shows an overgrowth of Streptococcus. My question is, can you still take probiotics with Streptococcus thermophilus? I.e. is S.thermophilus unlikely to contribute to an overgrowth.

Hi Gary,
I have been treated with antibiotics to supress the strep. and entroco. however they are so far resistant so will have to get different antibiotics.
I also take digestive enzymes.
Hi Anne
How do you know the strepto and entero are resistant from the abx? Because symptoms haven't improved or through further testing?
I am off gluten. I had food allergy test but come back negative so I am sensitive to it.
I also got high parathyroid issue with low calcium wihich gives me alot of GI issue.
I got CFS after gastro this year in February and never recovered from it. I strongly believe that resorting gut will get us back to normal life.
Hello, I don't know what happened to my above post.
You said that the bacteria seem resistant to the antibiotics. How do you know this is the case? Have you tried the mutaflor yet?
Viridans Strep and Enterococcus create an environment that lowers the good bacteria levels. They are multi drug resistant superbugs. Viridans strep will become totally resistant to Macroloids after only 1 week of treatment. The reason commercial tests return negatives for all the inflammation, whether vagina, prostate, uti, sore throat, anus, tongue, face etc. is because these bugs are classed as normal flora and they are mainly non-pyogenic. They are the main contributors to the bodies inflammation process which causes ME/CFS. If you have high levels of enterococcus or strep, taking lactobacillus will only further contribute to the inflammation and you need large doses of multiple antibiotics to get them out of your gut. These bugs are no longer opportunistic, enterococcus produce gelatinase and hyaluronidase, and the toxin cytolysin and it is gelatinase that allows the bug to break through the epithelial barrier and cause inflammation. Gelatinase and mytolysin is also produced by Viridans strep. Viridians Strep are very similar to strptococcus pneumonia genetically and can do the same damage, and a lot worse. These new superbugs have slipped under the medical radar and are now making us very ill .... Kill the strep and the enterococcus in your bowel and the science says you will improve. .... break the inflammation, break the disease ....
