Hi,
Just wanted to write a post about this in case it helps anyone with similar symptoms. I have moderate to severe M.E., but also a few times a year seem to get much worse. I don’t think this is necessarily down to overdoing things because it happens during periods of quiet, too. During these times I feel an extra pressure on my chest, as if someone is standing on my chest — the fatigue worsens and everything is harder. It’s possible that this is triggered by more viral activity, but I have suspected it’s inflammation related — during a particularly bad period, I had marks across my chest, as if my veins were inflamed. But I’m guessing. I’m in the UK and I only have access to basic doctors who barely believe M.E. exists. I wish I had taken a photograph when my veins were inflamed, but I was too ill to think straight.
Anyway, after a few days of taking a resolvin (SPM) supplement the chest inflammation died right down and my M.E. went back to moderate. I just recently repeated this experience so I thought it was worth mentioning here. From my research it seems that resolvins have the ability to dampen inflammation without causing immune repression. They can help clear viruses and bacteria. They are expensive and I haven’t tried using them on a more permanent basis. But for anyone with inflammation, they could be worth a try.
