Spanish Petition : Remove ME guidelines

REMOVE GUIDELINES - CHANGE.org

Recently our Social Security has published a Medical Guideline which encompasses: Fibromyalgia, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Chemical Multiple Sensitivity, Electromagnetic Sensitivity and Somatomorphic disorders.

This serves as a guidance for the Spanish doctors who have to evaluate if the Me patient is suitable for work.

Some major concerns :

“Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and Graded Exercise Therapy (GET) have shown to be very effective in order to help patients to go back to work in cases of absentism” (p.73)

Somatomorphic disorders are included among these diseases

ME Spanish specialists did not partipate in the Guideline


The Petition objectives are:

· Remove this Guideline

· Do not distribute it among GPs

· Revise and rework it
