That's the article I first read about this. It's pretty dense, so for anyone wanting the 'nutshell' version, the NPR link should do the trick.
When I tried a search to unearth the ScienceDirect article, I came up with a bunch of other things on sleep, but not this one. Apparently, the older the article is, the further back in the search it gets buried (or maybe my overworked googling just thrw up its little cyber hands and said, "Buzz off, we're tired"), and since I read it a while ago, I couldnt pinpoint the date.
