I am suffering! I see no help coming soon, and am scared for the many years ahead of living with no relief!
I dont know if this will work for you, but I've found that Aleve is a life-saver ..... Tylenol is worse than useless, Advil is a great anti-inflammatory but does little or nothing for really bad pain, but Aleve !!! Aleve is like an angel's kiss.

I take 1/4 to 1/2 a tablet, taking more if I need to until the pain is pretty much gone, which takes anywhere from 25 to 45 minutes, and it lasts at least 12 hrs, sometimes more, sometimes the pain just disappears, depending on the nature of it, where it expresses, and how bad it is.

Is there anyone here who has pain that is unrelenting and can get no help for it? I understand docs are at the mercy of the government, but personally, I am suffering! I see no help coming soon, and am scared for the many years ahead of living with no relief!
1. I would try to stock up on antiinflammantory food and teas devil claw tea is something that helped me good for pain.but you always need to research first and monitor side effects because of course all natural things can have side effects too.
So garlic, peppermint, curcuma, berries, and ginger also comes into my mind.

2. You also can look up acupressure points to find some relief for you pain ,

3. And Epsom salt baths are very nice.and very helpful for pain ,but it has magnesium and sulfur in ,so check before is this would be ok with you.because for me sulfur now is a killer,as my detox pathways are blocked......it also detoxes so start with a short foot bath first and see how your reacting

4.and either heat or cold pads.

Take care

someone told me to take one Aleve and one Tylenol together. Doesn't work for me, but I was on morphine sulfate and Percocet for more than a dozen years which enabled me to at least function...My rheumatologist/pain doc is no longer available, and docs seem too afraid to prescribe opioids.... So I love daily with intractable pain when there is some that can help!

You could try after discussing with your doc tiny doses of tramadol. It helps dome even with energy. But be careful its strong af... I would go for the drops and really start with only ONE drop no matter what the pain doc says. It's pretty uncomfortable when you don't tolerate it and go here higher.

Hello Everyone....Ah, pain my old friend! I've been suffering with pain for at least 35-40 yrs. now. Unfortunately I came along when elavil was the one and only tool. It didn't work. Years later gabapentin came along, and that was helpful but rather left one in a mental fog for many months. Still, it helped.

Years later we moved on to a relative of gaba's.....this time pregablin (Lyrica), there is I believe now a 3rd generation but lyrica has been helpful to me. I've also been on fentanyl for years, and was fortunate enough to get off it with no lasting problems. None at all, actually. Personally in my case the combo of lyrica and fentanyl seemed to give the best relief. Acupressure is something to learn, but not overdo.

However, if you want the greatest help I ever found, it has to be ice....hands down. Ace makes an ice pack that doesn't freeze hard, comes in many sizes, is fabric covered and can be used over, over and over again. It has been a life saver. I have a very large pad that I use for my entire back, especially the area of the spine. That will deaden any pain for long periods of time. You don't leave it on for any longer than 15-20 min. (gets warm then anyway). I can also use it on my breast and ribs on the l. side as they can be problems for me.

I'm older now (74) so hips and one knee are a problem, but I don't use ice on them. You can buy topical creams OTC that contain lidocaine. I like the roll-on ones best....buy the ones with at least 4% lidocaine in them and apply it liberally. Again, I'll put it directly over the spine and all the way to my hips. It doesn't last like the ice, but is helpful.

If you really want the big guns (which I don't after having been through it...I made different choices), you have to make an appt. with a pain doctor, who can prescribe fentanyl and will take you through surgical options, also. You may also have to see a psychiatrist/psychologist who can diagnose whether or not you are in pain. This is frustrating, but we can only blame other human beings for this predicament. If you look around the office you'll understand the reasons why. I would suggest going in clean, well pressed clothing, jeans are fine, with your hair combed. You'll see many people before the doctor and I think each is assessing you. Just be truthful, that's all.

I could have an implant for pain, but after my cord surgery I decided that no one would ever get near my spine again. Besides, I checked the implants out thoroughly and while they work, everyone who replied to surveys said they don't after 10 mos. to a year....then you have the pain again. This is something that will be improved over the years, and it may be worth it for you....for me, it isn't. Tens units didn't work for me.

Personally, I have too many doctors in my life, too many problems especially now that I'm old. One more, I don't need. Before the fentanyl debacle my neurologist was able to handle the prescription. After the abuse, no. These relatively new doctors are hard to find, but make an appt. and you'll probably get in fairly soon as a new patient. Me, I choose to go it alone. My neurologist is able to prescribe an ointment from a compound pharmacy that contains fentanyl along with gaba and a no. of other ingredients. I don't use it any longer, as the ice treatments keep me going. I wish you well. Pain is not a friend and it's something else that a lot of research is being done on. Try the ice packs, heat just causes me to tighten up even on the lowest setting. Oh, put a tea towel over the ice pack and best of luck. Yours, Lenora.

I'm trying to get prescribed high dose buprenorphine. It apparently works as well as oxycodone etc for intense cancer pain, so maybe it will work well for my pain. Causes less tolerance and is long lasting. Or maybe I'll try methadone but that's supposed to be hard on the heart

I used rare earth bio magnets for some of the pain issues and they are helpful.

I have two magnets on the back of my aching inflamed neck right now and feel much better.

For the sort of low grade, inflamed dull throb types of pain (not, say, you just got surgery, thats alot more intense).

CBD cremes are helpful for certain more superficial types of pain: it calms nerves in my hand, surface veins and even an unhappy root canal. I rub it into my jaw, which is often unhappy.

You'll probably have to make an appt. directly with a Pain Specialist. Ever since the fentanyl debacle of a few years ago, most states have gone this route. You may also have to see a psychiatrist, etc. This is to determine a no. of things....the likelihood that you have pain and how honest you are. Don't be afraid, they have their place. Most neurologists and rheumatologists are no longer allowed to prescribe fentanyl or opioids of any sort. Blame your fellow man and a very few criminal doctors. Yours Lenora.

Not great advice. To some degree, they work at cross-purposes, and taken together they're harder on your system than anyone probably needs. So, no.

When I have inflammatory pain, I take 1 Advil (impossible to cut them in half, or I'd try a lower dose), which works on the inflammation, tho briefly. I give it 3 to 4 hours to work it's way towards and out the exit, THEN I take the Aleve dose ....

I was also on heavy duty opioids, including morphine, then dilaudid, both coupled with 120 mgs a day (40 mgs thre times a day) of Oxycontin and codeine for spike pain, and granted, it isnt comparable to 1 Aleve.

But the Aleve does tune out a lot of the pain, and on good days, pretty much all of it.

I was hoping it might help you, too .... cause it's going to be a while befor Drs are brave enough to prescribe any opioids for anyone other than severe cancer patients and people dying horribly in hospices...

That's quite a high dose. Not judging at all. But that's basically what I've been on post surgically and it seems like an anomaly that they'd never prescribe me for chronic pain, even for breakthrough, like the only reason I'm on a dose like that is a major surgery, before that they wouldn't go higher than 3 7.5mg percocet a day
