The news story links this gene variant with severe Covid and Alzheimer's, but it might also explain ME.

"Studying the molecular mechanisms of this OAS1 variant the researchers discovered it can lead to overactive inflammatory responses, and it is this action that plays a role in the progression of severe COVID-19." Perhaps this, or some other gene variant makes our glial or other cells involved in our immune systems overreactive, or biased to 'lock up' in an abnormal state.

Is the variant (one particular OAS1 variant, dubbed rs1131454) they studied listed in the genetic testing results anyone here has had done?
