Hi,

I came across this study today.

https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/1080503

"We have identified a combination of drugs that appears to prevent enteroviruses from replicating,” said Aleksandr Ianevski at the Department of Clinical and Molecular Medicine. The combination of drugs has not yet been tested on humans, but trials have been conducted on human cells and cultures of mini-organs in the laboratory – and the results are positive."

"One combination consists of three drugs already known to health professionals: pleconaril, AG7404 and mindeudesivir. This combination of medicine can be taken orally."

“Our studies show great potential for finding broad-spectrum treatment methods against enteroviruses,” said Kainov.

Very interesting. Looks like the study is here.

They actually say in this paper that with some further development, their antiviral approach might be able to treat diseases associated with enteroviruses, including type 1 diabetes, an illness which involves coxsackievirus B4 infection on the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas.

Mindeudesivir (also called deuremidevir) appears to be a chemically-modified version of the antiviral remdesivir.

Seems that the same research team have previously experimented with a pleconaril-rupintrivir-remdesivir combination for enteroviruses (paper here).

Hi

Mindeudesivir (Deuremidevir) was formally known as VV116. It is a Chinese drug, The drug is formulated after GS-441524, the active metabolite of remdesivir. VV116 appeared to be comparable to Paxlovid in studies. This drug, I believe. is availabe in China and Kazakistan. It is difficult to get much real information about VV116 and its real-time use. Obviously, for this Norwegian study, VV!116 seems a good stand-in for the oral remdesivir drug Obeldesivir, seemingly side-lined now by Merck for covid.

I also heard something today that indicates that Lipkin at Columbia is testing various antiviral/drug combinations against viruses, including maybe enteroviruses.
