MTHFR, Normal Homocysteine, and Cardiovascular issues

If someone is MTHFR homozygous 677 (two copies of C677T), and their homocysteine level is normal, can MTHFR still cause cardiovascular problems? If so, HOW??

My parents and I are all homozygous 677. My dad had an occasional rapid heartbeat for decades; I had a large blood clot on my placenta during a recent pregnancy; and my mom has a huge blockage in an artery in front of her heart that is requiring open heart bypass surgery. We all have very normal homocysteine, eat healthy and have healthy weights. I don't think doctors will say there's a connection with MTHFR. Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, but I can't help but wonder if there is a connection.

This is my first post here at Phoenix Rising, and I have seen that many people here seem to be very knowledgeable about MTHFR.

The "tests" are pretty useless imho. My homocysteine , B12 and mma were all smack dab in the middle of normal, so my intergrative NP never mentioned a b12/folate trial. Wasted four years of recovery. And this was a fairly, way out clinic. I can imagine how a "SURGEON" would react to a "crazy" idea like Genetics. Run away as quick as you can!!!:)

I know my specialist told me that the risk of strokes goes up as the homoeocysteine does and tended to think we were safer if on the right supplements.

I do think thou anyone with MTHFRC667T should take this issue seriously and supplement for it. I have a disabled child (very rare condition but similar to spinia bifida) all due to this mutation and not knowing I had it so I took the wrong for of folate during pregnancy.
