I don't know about the UK but 23andme.com is a pretty difficult deal to beat. You get not only info about MTHFR but also info on almost 1 million polymorphisms more.
Mine was sent to a lab in the USA but the doctor who arranged this test is no longer working in the UK. Bloods were taken through "the doctors laboratory" close to Harley St. They may know of someone still doing this.
MTHFR - common C677T mutation .. In Australia it's part of the normal "Thrombophilia genotypes testing" which I think wouldnt be all that an uncommon kind of test for anywhere. Your normal blood lab may do it if you checked. (unfortunately thou it is a common test..doctors still arent at all up with this polymorphism stuff).
In Australia it is a test our medicare covers so that test didnt cost anything to me. At one point it was discussed that if they'd introduce the MTHFR test as a standard test for all pregnant women to have..but they ended up deciding against that due to the cost (and like only up to 18% of people have it).
All biological guidance much appreciated- I am a typical arts right brainer.Have dived in and gone for 23 and me test-is there a novices thread to decoding the results ?, and a simpletons guide to principles of methylation anywhere on this excellent site ?
