Mostly Recovered Dr wants to write about treatments helped

A physician got seriously illwith chronic fatigue syndrome to be mostly bed ridden/house bound for months/years. Drs didn't have any treatments. Tried several methods (natural/supplements etc) over the years, which helped improve slowly, but surely and now after more than a decade later back to functioning normally. They want to write about it, so this experience/treatments tried may help someone else in future. Not a good writer.
Any suggestions where and how one can start writing a book?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @Hopeful1 -- Your post is intriguing, but a bit confusing. Are you that doctor who recovered, and is not a good writer? If not, I'd be curious what your relationship to this doctor is--if you care to share.

Any suggestions where and how one can start writing a book?

The only person I know of on this forum who's written a book (two actually) is @Nord Wolf. I think he might have some good suggestions to offer. He's accomplished a LOT in the writing department despite having to deal with VERY challenging physical limitations.

I look forward to hearing more about this doctor, and a bit of "the rest of the story".

I agree with @Wayne here. It is unclear if you are the doctor or your are asking on behalf of the doctor?

Book writing isn’t easy, especially for anyone who has any sort of disability. I speak from firsthand experience. There are quite a few writer tools these days that can help, but when you get right down to it, you are the one who has to write your book.

And I agree with @wabi-sabi, the Ghostwriter is a great option for those who are not proficient writers. They work in various ways depending on the induvial Ghostwriter or the requests of the author. They can write your entire book from you verbally dialoging, even just ideas or facts. They can write your book from notes you supply them, and many other options.

If you wish to write your own book, it is best to do so in your native language. Trying to write a book in a secondary language that is anything less than absolute master level won’t turn out well. The book can always be translated by a professional after the fact to another language.

But if English is your first language and your skills at writing are less than comfortable, a Ghostwriter is really your only option for writing a book. Be prepared though because Ghostwriters tend to cost a pretty penny. Actually, the more work others have to do on your book, the more money you should be prepared to dish out, and you might be surprised at just how much those bills add up to in the author and publishing realm.

A ghost writer will be expensive I suspect. Why not try ai, its perfect for that. There are lots of free ai browsers you can use and it will crank out pages of text for you. You just have to give it good inputs on what you want to say. This will save tons of time as opposed to hiring someone as well as being free rather than paid for.

A book may not do what you want it to do. It is very expensive to self publish and distribute a book. Are people going to read the book, there are so many new books every year. Why not post it here, we can go over it with you and give feedback and suggestions. If its something that only works for this doctor thats one thing but if it works for many people, that is valuable

1) Try dictating into Word or iNotes. Easy because its talking not writing so dont get tied in knots “trying to write” . And you get to lie down the whole tine!

2) do not start at the beginning of book unless you want to stare at a blank screen for a long long time. Start with a chapter that you feel really strong about. What point are you dying to tell others? Can do a couple of those before even trying to map out the whole book.

3) Donr try to get it right the first time. The average number of drafts it takes for a book is 10. Sounds like a lot but flows pretty organically.
