Any clue what the real story is as far as the relationship between mold and viruses?

Does mold weaken the immune system and prevent your body from truly getting rid of the viruses? Or is it the reverse of this?

I tested positive for 3 mold toxins and my main symptoms besides some fatigue is sinus, eyelid and forehead pressure that is worse when I’m in moldy buildings or the day after I sweat.

BUT

I also tested positive for high IGG titers for HHV, CMV, and good ole EBV (had mono at the start of this year.

So I know there’s a relationship between those with mold and those with EBV. I also know of the study that showed a huge portion of folks with CFS also tested positive for mold. So what’s a fella to do?

I’m seeing a specialist who is adamant that if we fix the mold everything else will fix itself and he’s not a belieber that high IGGs mean you are currently being effected by that virus.

So what are your thoughts on this relationship? How many of you tested for mold? Any of you in a similar situation to mine?

I feel like sometimes the doctors who are mold practitioners believe it to be the sole cause of all that ails you. I think it's a more complex picture, sadly, and there are no easy fixes. I've tried some of the various binders, etc and haven't gotten much help there, but always looking.

No telling. I believe I read something about mycotoxins latching on to Tcells and that makes it near impossible to clear out certain viruses? But I could be way off.

I do know that to rid yourself of mycotoxins it’s a complex long drawn out process that could take 6 months to a couple years. No easy fixes...

jmpo.....................I think the virus is at the root core. Mold is an aggravator.............and can add to the existing problems the virus is already causing.

Possibly. I know the mold treatment has given me slow but noticeable improvement and I’m pretty skeptical and negative about my progress typically. I guess regardless of what’s really at the root, surely by fixing one it puts your body in better position to fix the other right?

I'm all for slow but noticeable improvement, just haven't found it so far with mold - mainly trying cholestyramine, charcoal, clay, etc. I do feel like it may be part of the picture, but I don't think anyone (including Shoemaker) has a really good and consistent method to treat it. I've talked to patients and doctors who have had widely varying results - often what we're familiar with where it works initially, then doesn't seem to work in the long run.

Non-moldy fresh air, which is rare in my neck of the woods, definitely provides some temporary improvement that feels really great.
