Another discovery intended for Alzheimer's, but which might have a role in ME. It's about how microglial cells clean up bad proteins, and can get stuck in a damaging feedback loop. Another study involves identifying genes that are upregulated when microglial cells detect the amyloid proteins. My guess is that there's a similar genetic component to ME, which explains why our individual ME responses are so varied.
There's also testing (on mice) of a new antibody that enhances microglial activity in certain ways. If they have any ME mice, it would be interesting to see if this antibody had any effect on ME.
