Mark Davis, renowned Stanford Immunologist, has identified a protective role for suppressive CD8+ T-Cells in autoimmune diseases which could lead to new types of treatments.

His findings were published in Nature, August 22, 2019 and are based on a comprehensive study of T-cells, both CD4+ and CD8+, dynamics.

Tony Fauci, NIAID Director, showcased these findings at his Sept. 9, 2019 Advisory Council Meeting:

Excerpt from the article:

In summary, the work presented here indicates there is a subset of CD8+ T-cells that can suppress pathogenic CD4+ T-cells in mice and probably in humans...Determining the ligands for these regulatory CD8+T-cells in autoimmune diseases could be of therapeutic importance.

Very technical article, perhaps @Simon can have a look?

Mark Davis is studying T-cell clonal expansion in ME/CFS, any connection?
