Low-energy self-cleaning

I moved to sink bathing maybe a year ago, and I've got a good system with a bit of liquid soap in water and a very oversized washcloth (so I can do my back). But recently I got tired of the re-do for rinsing, and I've been exploring no rinse options.

I'm very happy with the combination of an XL Epic wipe (31" x 20", super strong) for all over + a Dude Wipe (7" x 7", very thick) for smelly or dirty places. The Dude Wipe is flushable. I use the Epic wipe a few times and then wash it and soak it in no-rinse cleaner to use again.

I bought a no-wash shampoo, but the process of getting it into my hair looks more difficult than washing in the kitchen sink, which is not a problem for me.

What have y'all found that works for you, wherever you are on the ability spectrum? And what did you try that didn't work?

Hi maddietod,

Sink wash doesn't work for me.

I have to pass most of the day in bed in order to remain within my limits and keep oi/pots symptoms manageable. Still, I can get up several times a day to use the bathroom or fetch a bottle of water. I can sit upright for a few minutes. A bit longer when sitting on the floor. So that's what I do -

I sit on the bathroom floor and wash myself with a cotton wash cloth and a soap-free, perfume-free, et caetera-free washing lotion. On not so good days I lean back on the wall while doing it. On bad days, I use my wash cloth in bed doing, bit by bit, the most important parts. On really bad days - who cares. On especially good days I sit on the rim of our bathtub and place my feet on the other side of the tub to wash my intimite parts, kind of like a bidet, but with my feet the same level as my bottocks.

Since I have alopecia - no head hair at all - shampooing is not an issue 😊.

I love the way you use the bathtub. My sink is immediately beside the toilet, so I sit there and wash in a similar way. But with my feet down, which isn't (yet?) a problem for me.
Do you have a favorite washing lotion? I'm testing Clean Life, "odor free" - not quite.

you have a favorite washing lotion?

I live in Germany. Our biggest (frog store - this typo is funny, I'll leave it 🐸) drug store chains and discounters have their own brands, with "normal", "sensitive" and "extra sensitive" products, that are approved by an association for allergics. Luckily, the "cheap" extra sensitive stuff works for me.

Odor free - for me, doesn't exist.
