low blood CO2, aka hypocapnia?

I have the same problem with low CO2 as of a week ago: 20 MEQ/L (range 23-29). Also definitely not hyperventilating - I'm a slow and shallow breather. Normal in everything else except ESR, though a few weeks ago blood elements were pretty weird - fairly normal in whole blood, but everything except zinc high in serum, and everything except zinc low or lowish in blood cells.
