According to german government, validated test won't show before 2/3 months, but some tests are already available in Germany for covid antibodies.

I don't mean quick test you can order online and get the result in 10/20 mn with unknown reliability, I mean for example the Elisa test for IgA and IgG from Euroimmun
https://www.coronavirus-diagnostics.com/antibody-detection-tests-for-covid-19.html

or the test from the PharmaAct (sold in the USA it seems) which has a good sensitivity/specificity

@pattismith, I don't think there is a chance yet to order a test from Germany.
Since the labs here are already working full limit, you need a doctor to order a test for you.

Not everyone is getting tested, often times it is only assumed someone would be positive, especially if they had contact to someone positive.

Also as a side note: the ELISA test detects antibodies. These will show up only after ~2 weeks of infection showing symptoms. If you do the test too early, you'd get a false negative result.

It also can't distinguish between coronaviruses, so if you had one of the other coronaviruses, you'd get a false positive result.

thank you Lisa,
I know all that. The 2 tests I'm talking about have good press, with good specificity (this means no crossed reaction with other coronavirus) and good sensitivity (this means few false negatives)

This graph is out of Pharmact.de (their test is sold in the USA)

Two of my close coworkers were ill at the begining of march, one with fever, but nobody was PCR tested, and I need to know if I am immune.
My GP gave me a prescription, but no test is currently available in my country, and I bet we won't have a test before Germany got them;

I'm skeptic if the serologic test got validated correctly in the short time. Nonetheless, the IMD Berlin offers this test, but they get probably overwhelmed by the amount of people who want to get tested.

Here is some info from their newsletter:

SARS-CoV-2 antibody detection is now available at the IMD
Thanks to the combined use of IgG and IgA antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, the tests achieve a sensitivity of over 95% from 10-14 days after the onset of symptoms. Even if cross-reactions with antibodies against SARS-CoV-1 cannot be ruled out, a surely positive test allows a statement to be made about a SARS-CoV-2 infection. The extent to which there is a secure immunity in the case of a positive antibody test or how long this persists has to be proven by ongoing studies.

Test kits from two manufacturers are currently approved in Germany. As delivery bottlenecks are unfortunately to be expected, we have validated both kits for you in order to be flexible in the event of delivery delays and to be able to deliver results to you as quickly as possible. However, we ask for your understanding for any delays in the findings.

Test material: 1 serum monovette
Order: Transfer slip with order "Coronavirus Antibodies"
Pre-analytics: straightforward as with other infectious antibodies, courier or even postal delivery possible.
Important: To detect the fresh infection, only the PCR test from swab material is still suitable.

Thank you so much Markus, I have already sent blood to IMD for Borrelia testing years ago, so I might try this way... My husband has leukemia and I do worry for him. :thumbsup:

Who are you gonna test, yourself or your husband? The antibodies will only tell you if you've had contact with the pathogen, which means you've had the infection in the past.
maybe both. Two of my coworkers got ill at the beginning of March (nobody was tested here, and they stopped working only 7 days for one and 5 days the other), and I noticed altered smelling at that time.
I wonder if both my husband and me had asymptomatic infection.

His lymphocyte count is a bit low, but last time he got a cold, he fighted it quite well (to my surprise).
When pandemic were threatening, I bought some supplements to try to prevent the disease, and we were both taking high dose lipoic acid (among others);

A French doctor: Dr Schwartz published a survey in his cancer patients and found only one of 2500 had some mild symptoms. These patients have classical cancer treatment + high methylene blue + high lipoic acid + some other (there is a thread opened by Hip about it).

So I wonder if lipoic acid protected us against symptomatic infection (usually I'm very ill and catch every respiratory virus I can with sinusitis or bronchitis complications)
