Wonder if this will kill off the cruise line industry. I'd never go on one. Just that Norovirus issue alone. The ship got full of that a couple of years ago. Your entirely at the mercy of some company. Its just terrifying to imagine being captured like that.

Professor Iwata’s video has been removed from his Youtube Channel. I am re-posting the video with a different link to another channel as he asked in the video that it be shared. I am sure that there are people in Japan and elsewhere who were not happy with the information that he shared publicly about the problems with the quarantine protocols (or lack thereof) on the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship. Not sure how long this new link to the video will stay up, but I did take photos of a comment in the original link where someone had transcribed what Professor Iwata said in the video. I just had a feeling that the information he wanted to share with the world might be removed once it became known by a wider audience,

There are many conversations going on right now about what information about this virus should be shared with the public. While I understand that there is concern that misinformation can rapidly spread via social media, I believe strongly in freedom of speech and this video may be an example of how social media allows for information to be shared that impacts the public before powerful, authoritarian figures intercede to censor the information.

I posted a news article about a meeting between the W.H.O. and Tech companies where the W.H.O. wanted to develop ideas on how they could work to “tramp down” misinformation about the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. I wonder if Professor Iwata’s video would have been found to contain “misinformation” about the virus and therefore would require it to be censored/“tamped down”? Just raises questions to think about when weighing the pros and cons of how news information is being shared in the digital age.

Floating Petrie dishes, teeming with endless strands of bacterial and viral infection, and a large, readily colonizable population, held hostage by a company that's in business to make money. As much of it as possible.

Too bad. A river cruise on the Rhine seems like such a peaceful way to see some of the world .....

I was seriously thinking- maybe a river cruise MIGHT be feasible. Recently even checked out the Snake.

Not a huge boat. Smaller. That looks really fun.

But we don't eat- like that. Buffets and stuffing yourself with- meals and socializing with strangers....

And then we can't get anywhere, upon landing... as my husband is hobbled with a cane and I fall over after two blocks.

...or alternately, bringing a stack of books with you and lounging on the deck, enjoying the scenery as it drifts slowly by, reading a bit, and relishing the prospect eating a small meal that you didnt have to shop for, prep, cook, eat, clean up after, and put the leftovers away for future use .....

Yeah, a river cruise sounds brilliant. There must be a catch somewhere .....
