CONGRATULATIONS, WE HAVE REACHED THE INITIAL OBJECTIVE € 5,000 in less than 24 H
NOW LET BY € 10,000 WORTH!!

We need to raise 29,000 euros to cover the budget for this project and to advance research on the relationship with our immune system disease.

You will see that we have put in Verkami a minimum target of 5,000 euros for donations can be made effective, because if we do not reach this minimum at the end of 40 days the donations would be returned, in compliance with the operation of this platform. But remember that we need to reach 29,000 euros to cover the total project budget.

Edit: Please ignore this post for now, because it seems that they've given incomplete bank transfer details.

I think these are the details for an international bank transfer...

IBAN: ES 68 0182-1413-69-0201553881
BIC or SWIFT: ESMMXXX

(Don't copy these details from a Google translation, as it changes the details.)

I've sent this out this Tweet - please feel free to retweet it:

Alternatively, please feel free to copy the text to send out your own tweet:
ME/CFS: Crowd-funding project to raise €29,000 for IrsiCaixa seeking two potential biomarkers:

And this is the image that I uploaded to my Tweet. Please feel free to download it, and use it:

And, in case helpful, this is the text used in the image:
IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute is seeking to crowd-fund €29,000 to complete a research study looking for biomarkers in ME/CFS patients.

In previous research, IrsiCaixa have discovered what they consider to be two potential biomarkers for ME/CFS in approx 50% of the patient sample: The Natural Killer cell markers: NKp46 & NKCD57.

They need further funds from the public to continue with the research.

Please visit the crowd-funding website to donate.

@Gijs

I can't use this to transfer money from Belgium.
There is someting missing in the BIC. It should be 8 to 11 letters. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_9362)

For example:
http://swift-code.bankslookup.com/BIC/Spain/MADRID/BANCO SANTANDER S.A.

29,000 euros. equals 40,133.10 US dollars. If this is incorrect, please post the correct amount as my head today feels like it's swathed in cotton, making thinking straight an almost impossible task.

@serg1942 Thanks for this information! I have only had time to skim it but it looks quite interesting.

Yes, it seems that they've missed out some digits. I think they may have missed out the first four digits which identify the bank. But they've identified their bank, elsewhere, as 'BBVA'.

So perhaps the bic-swift code should be:

BBVAESMMXXX

This seems to be the bic-swift code for the BBVA bank in Spain.

@serg1942, would you be able to contact them about this?

Hi guys! Thank you very much for continuing helping raising th needed money for this study. I do think it is really worth helping this team to be able to carry out the following up work and to publish their results.

I will be a week disconnected from the Internet because I am traveling to Brussels to visit my doctor, so please excuse if I cannot attend the thread and the possible issues, like the one with the bank account. I am going to let them know now tough, hoping they solve it soon!

In the meanwhile THANK you very much for helping here!

I will be back soon!
Sergio

PS. yeap, the amount in dollars seems correct, although it looks much higher!! I rather see it in euros! :)

Thank you Bob, actually those numbers are correct. They have confirmed to successfully received international bank transfers.

Actually, they already have almost 17.000 euros, as they have broken down on their Webseite: http://www.asssem.org

The extra amount comes mainly from their own funds, but also from the bank transfers

So they need about 12.800 euros to make it, and there are 26 days left!

Best!

Hi all,

I see that there is not much ongoing effort here to help fund this study. Most probably because of lack of information. So I will try to provide a bit more info.

It is very important that independent groups from all around the globe are following up with immune marker studies. These studies have to been repeated again and again in order to be validated and gain recognition.

Many here are under the false impression that one single study by one high profile researcher will find ONE marker which is unique to ME. This is not how this works. It is a cluster of immune markers, called cluster of differentiation, which will be part of diagnosis for ME. CD markers are used widely for research, differential diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of disease. If you want to learn more about cell surface markers please check out this fun site. You can click on each cell pic and the CD marker associated with it will pop up https://www.biolegend.com/cell_markers

For more information on the very important and interesting topic TREGS, please read the following post http://www.mecfsforums.com/index.php?topic=16077.0 or visit a new blog in the making http://moms4science.weebly.com/i-read-and-share.html

(I am in the process to get more information on the results of the second study and the one planned. I promise I will get back with more information on what we can expect from this study, but I think if you read the post by Anushka on Tregs you will get a good sense of how important this study is.)

Here is the new link to the English page and the site for donations.

http://www.verkami.com/locale/en/projects/8246

Here is a bit more personal information from Clara Velverde:

"There are 3 studies: one published already by Julian Blanco about the immunology of ME/CFS,another one we did, the patients, on immunological biomarkers (that is not published) and now the 3rd one is the one that Julian will start as soon as we get the 29000 euros (we are having a hard time getting the money as people in Spain are out of work and those who are sick, well, we have no income). this third study will be on the Tregs. I think that Julian will talk about it at the Invest in ME conference in London."

I also have a power point presentation in English by Dr. Blanco but do not manage to upload it here. Maybe some one from admin can help?

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS STUDY AND PASS THE DONATION PAGE ON TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY !

That is all for now.

Hi bambi,
Thank you for the information.
If you are able to save the powerpoint doc as a PDF, then you'll be able to upload the PDF.
Let me know if you can't, and I'll be able to do it for you via email.
