"New research uncovers molecular changes in the brain that are specific to chronic fatigue syndrome and Gulf War illness — two conditions that were believed to be purely psychological until recently."

Not a lot of depth, but some interesting parallels and observations, and for those of us struggling to put together a difficult puzzle that seems to have a lot of pieces missing, or maybe a lot of pieces from entirely different puzzles mixed in, information is key, and who knows what little bit will open an interesting door. And at least this one moves us a little further away from "It's all in your head .....":

That article led to a couple more articles on CFS one that interested me was the Gut microbe being the culprit. The more I heal my gut, I am feeling better and bouncing back from PEM faster.

This holiday season was busy, and I did bounce back quicker without as much light and sound sensitivity.
I was able to enjoy being in a group twice and having much more fun with my granddaughter!
I even enjoyed some music louder than I have tolerated in years.

Thanks for the new Thread @YippeeKi YOW !!

That is great news @jesse's mom ! I'm really glad to hear you have improved a bit.

Thanks very much for the article link @YippeeKi YOW !!

My instinct told me brain chemistry had been knocked a little off-kilter, even in the first few days I became unwell last year. So personally I am interested in this angle. As for what knocked it suddenly off....I can only surmise was a viral load.

That's phenomenally good news, @jesse's mom .... it's the baby steps that lead to the toddler steps that lead to the ..... well, you get the idea. It's just really, really, good, and uplifting, at least for me, still wobbling the toddler steps.

Thank you for liking and reading the thread, and yes, the article on the gut and ME was interesting, but slightly thread-bare. However, most of us here, having made research a religion, could undoubtedly fill in the gaps.

Oh, @Wolfcub, you're very very welcome. I've been hesitant to post article threads, thinking that anything that interested me was probably old news to everyone here, but then I thought, "What if it's not? What if some little nugget triggers someone to look at something they never considered before? And who the hell am I to make that decision?"

Again, thank you for reading the thread and the article. :) :) :woot::woot::woot:

And I like Figure 1 from this study which was linked in the article: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-017-15383-9#Sec16 which shows the overlap - and differences - between ME/CFS, GWS and depression.
Yes, you're right @Mary, one of the few diagram-y things that makes perfect sense and blends everything into an easily comprehended whole . Wish everyone composed their diagrams so concisely. Some of them actually hurt my head. o_O
