I came across this Mother Jones magazine article in print a while ago and thought that it had relevance especially for people who are interested in participating in clinical trials. I think participating in clinical trials is important but also believe that people should go into them with as much information as possible. The online article is not as extensive as the print one so if you can find the print at your library, do read it.
Of note, for doctors who run clinical trials through their offices, realize they sometimes get paid per patient recruited. While this is not unethical and even needed in some cases, in other cases, it might be a conflict of interest in that the dollar matters more than the possible adverse effects of the trial on patients.
The other links refer to considerations before participating in a trial and also how Medicare may cover some trial costs when the study sponsors do not.

[Mods: I would have placed this under "Active clinical trials" but it's not about a specific trial. It might benefit from a move there instead.]
