Inconsistent libido

I'm not sure how to frame this, and it's kind of personal... sorry if this is "too much information" but I don't know where else to ask and my doctor is kind of useless.

I have sex drive and I have sexual interest. My auto-immune condition is currently in "remission". I go to the gym and can do full workouts without being tired. I'm even considering joining CrossFit. My nutritional status is really good. I would say I'm healthier now than I've ever been after years of disabling CFS and Crohn's. I'm in my early 30's and my blood work looks good across the board now, including hormones.

But there is one problem I'm noticing that I can't figure out.

I can achieve arousal and potency with a sexual partner, but after about 10-15 minutes it's like the lights turn off and I start feeling tired. It almost feels like... my neurotransmitters go kaput, or something. It's like my body can't support the pleasure response. I don't know how to fully describe it. It's not because of emotional distress or some kind of performance psychology. I may still be interested, but the fire just disappears. When it happens, my nervous system gets tired.

So rather than being totally impotent and with low libido, I seem to rather have a limited supply? Can anyone better describe this phenomenon for me and what it could possibly be related to?

I was seriously ill the past 4 years and I am now optimal for the first time in a very long time. It has been a long rebuilding process. However, I'm still figuring out this new reality I'm living in, having home out the other end of a kind of hell experience.

I don't want to use libido enhancers like viagra because I feel like that's forcing the body to do something it shouldn't do, but I also can't fully accept what's happening.

Have you tried supplements like maca root or tribulus?

I'd like to know what you did to get to this optimal state if you'd like to share it, since I also have autoinmune CFS.

My (sad) expriences differ to yours, but you could well try tyrosine (maybe only 250mg), and some milkchocolate (!).

(Don´t know what it says for AI, but what me now helps in generel are the vit B´s 5, 7,2, 1.)

I have this too however my libido is consistently pretty low. If I masturbate, about 20 mins in I will become very tired and drained, kind of like my body is giving up or something.

This, coupled with the fact that amphetamines make most me/cfs people more tired point to something very wrong in the brain. I used to think it was prolactin, but got mine tested and it was quite low. Now I'm thinking it's dopamine.

@Chirion you won't like this answer, but maybe the best thing to do is accept it, considering how optimal your life is. The internet is filled with ppl who tried to modulate their neurotransmitters and screwed themselseves over. Trying to squeeze more out the brain usually backfires.

You could try a complete hormonal profile to see if something is wrong. Testosterone, E2, prolactin, SHBG, DHEA, Pregnenolone.

Also, low dose naltrexone just before sex made me a sex addict. Which makes sense since endogenous opioids drive sexual satiety.

Do you watch porn? If so, out of personal experience, no amount of performance enhancers will help.

Otherwise, just squeeze those 15 minutes like it's your last time on Earth.

@S-VV

I checked my hormones... everything is fine except for slightly elevated prolactin. Usually if I orgasm on my own, I'm super tired for a couple of days. So something is off.

I take L-tyrosine in the morning and it has been instrumental in getting myself into remission.

I don't watch porn.

Interesting you mention Low Dose Naltrexone. I do take that... 3mg before bedtime. It's part of my remission process. I don't really like the stuff as it disturbs my sleep, but it seems to have normalized my immune system. I haven't noticed sexual effects from it.
