da_foles, your attachments didn't work for some reason (you can tell from the listed file size which is in Bytes, not KiloBytes).

Thanks for the info but as mentioned above the attachments don't work. Anyway, I think taking both at the same time is a very good idea.

Yes I have uploaded the wrong ones. however I don't think they will work anyway because they are above the cut off size limit for a pdf. If anyone would like them just pm me and I can send it to your e mail address.

Cheers.

Thinking of doing both at the same time will give Famvir a go for 3 months then pick up immunovir as well.

New study on isoprinosine and cytokines:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20038210

Isoprinosine affects serum cytokine levels in healthy adults.
Petrova M, Jelev D, Ivanova A, Krastev Z.

Medical Institute Ministry of Interior, Sofia, Bulgaria. mpetrova@gmail.com

Abstract
Isoprinosine is a synthetic purine derivative with immunomodulatory and antiviral properties, which result from an apparent in vivo enhancement of host immune responses. To evaluate the serum levels of certain cytokines during and after isoprinosine treatment, we assigned 10 healthy volunteers to receive isoprinosine 1 g, 3 times daily, 5 consecutive days weekly. Both treatment and follow-up phase last 3 weeks. Interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma), interleukin-2 (IL-2), IL-10, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) were measured in serum using commercial ELISA kits at baseline, 7th, 10th, 14th, 21st, 28th, 35th, and 42nd day. We observed an increase in serum levels of all measured cytokines at 7th to 10th day. The levels of IL-2 had another raise at 42nd day after drop to initial values (P < 0.05; P < 0.001, respectively). Those of IL-10 held up enhanced from 7th to 28th day of measurement (P < 0.01). There was a nearly flat line of values of TNF-alpha after initial slight increase at 10th day. We found a moderate negative correlation between IFN-gamma and IL-2, IL-10, and TNF-alpha (Spearman's r: -0.63, -0.62, -0.63; P < 0.05, respectively). We have demonstrated the immunomodulating properties of isoprinosine in healthy adults. It suggests resumption of the research with up-to-date methods to elucidate the mechanisms of action of inosine pranobex and maybe the other inosine compounds in different clinical settings.

Good find. Anyone who's got the full text of this one?

Re: cheap Imunovir, you can try the herbal version Inosine, available at iherb. i have had a 5 months course of it, and it managed to double my uric acid levels ;-) (a side effect of Imunovir)

inosine is about 12$ per bottle, perhaps a 4 weeks supply. imunovir in my country, 220$ per month

uric acid i was told by my doc works with high cholesterol as an antioxidant against oxidative stress, so it could be a sign when uric acid and cholesterol are high that your body is trying to counteract oxidative stress, but yes we need to be careful of gout from uric acid and heart disease from high cholesterol. Some cfsers have high uric acid levels for this reason but it doesnt cause them gout. All could be a sign of needing more antioxidants eg vit e and c etc.

I havent tried immunovir as its quite expensive but used insoine which when i first used it almost put me in remission for 6 weeks but havent been able to repeat this since, bugger. inosine i have found helps joint discomfort which felt like sand in your joints, which again my doc says was a sign of oxidative stress, so probably why inosine helped through its antioxidant effects. other antioxidants have also helped me with this problem too.

cheers!!!

The herbal version of Imunovir, Inosine is dirt cheap at 12$ for 60 tablets. I took it from February to just 2 weeks ago- my uric acid got high (a side effect from Imunovir) - Now I have a new doctor that have agreed to prescribe it for me- In Canada it's 220$ for 100 tabs. (My insurance is covering it, thankfully)

I ordered couple of boxes from Gold Pharma, it never made it to Canada the first time, the second time it arrived to the US border- maybe 6 weeks later. The packaging was unreadable, was it greek? I never ordered again from there, and not planning to.

Inosine is available through I-herb.

Edit: Ooops I didn't realized I responded already! OMG Mega memories issues.

My doc made me stop Inosine for 2 weeks, and retest Uric Acid before prescribing Imunovir. In the 2 weeks it went back within normal range. Dr Klimas told me not to worry about Uric Acid. What's interesting is during the 2 weeks off I developped muscle and joint pain that I never had before. It's been an awful 2 weeks and looking forward to see if Imunovir will help me.

From February to July, I never noticed any difference with or without Inosine. But for me the plan is 6 solid months of Inosine/Imunovir and then recheck NK cell count and hopefully function.

interesting how klimas said not to worry about uric acid, maybe she is also under the impression it helps with oxidative stress.

Kati when u said u got joint pains when u stopped, was it like sand in your joints, sort of grating?

cheers!!!

Not feeling sand like sensation. It feels like inflammation to me, and while the joints (fingers, toes, wrists, knees) have been hurting, the muscles have been hurting as well including thighs arms and shoulders. More memory issues. Right now joints are not as bad as muscles however I can't really tell if my shoulder pain is muscular or joint related.

Regarding Dr Klimas, I can't tell what she thinks. However she has decades of experience using Imunovir and I believe some literature mentions that while the uric acid is elevated during therapy, it doesn't seem associated with gout and resolves upon stopping it.

I was asymptomatic while on the Inosine.

I had a list of things which I thought was relevant to Imunovir, one was oxidative stress, my specialist said he was not convinced.
